The Forge’s collection of Pickaxes keeps growing, and the Winter Update has introduced seven new ones. Fred the Miner sells six of these pickaxes, but the seventh one is hidden inside the belly of a prehistoric beast.
Don’t worry, you don’t need to fight an arctic dinosaur to obtain this Pickaxe, but if you’ve spent enough time playing the game, you know that it doesn’t hand out its best Pickaxes in a silver, icy platter.
With a little help from Sensei Moro and a glacial Pickaxe, I was able to obtain this Pickaxe. However, I warn you, the entire process will consume both time and Gold. So, if you’re ready to purchase the greatest Pickaxe currently available in The Forge, read on below.
Prismatic Pickaxe Location in The Forge

You’ll find the Prismatic Pickaxe on The Forge’s new island, the Frostspire Expanse. To reach this island, you need to be at least level 70 and have the Portal Tool, which automatically makes this a Pickaxe for endgame players.
Now, the Pickaxe itself is tucked away in an isolated location, and to obtain it, you need to meet some chilly requirements. For now, focus on this Pickaxe’s location, then we’ll move on to the requirements and the Gold you need to purchase it.
- From the Frostspire Expanse’s spawn, take a left and walk straight.
- When you reach the intersection, take the path on your left and advance until you reach the pond.
- Head through the narrow opening on your right to find the frozen lake with the circular hole.
- Dive into the hole and swim to the bottom of the area.
- Inside, you’ll find a large Mosasaurus frozen in a giant iceberg.
- Within the ice, you’ll find the Prismatic Pickaxe.
Figuring out the location was easy, but meeting the Pickaxe’s requirements was the exact opposite. You cannot break the ice with the Mosasaurus until you’ve obtained a Mosasaursit, which I’ll discuss below.
Prismatic Pickaxe Requirements in The Forge

Breaking the ice that froze the Mosasaurus will net you a single Mosasaurit, but there are more ice-cold hurdles you need to cross to break it. Here’s what you need to do:
- Complete ‘Sensei Moro 6’ Quest: To break open the ice with the Mosasaurus, you need the Snow Pickaxe, which is unlocked after completing Sensei Moro’s sixth quest, Path of Mastery.
- Purchase the Snow Pickaxe: The Snow Pickaxe has a base damage of 320, which is absolutely mandatory to break open the giant iceberg. So, purchase the Snow Pickaxe for 750,000 Gold. This is the cheapest alternative, as Pickaxes such as Frost Pickaxe or the Void Pickaxe cost more, but have better stats.
Once you have bought the Snow Pickaxe, return to the Mosasaurus and start breaking the ice. The ice has a health pool of 500,000, so it will take you around 30 minutes to break it with the Snow Pickaxe completely. If you’re using the Void or the Frost Pickaxe, it’ll reduce the break time.
With the breaking process over, you’ll receive a single Mosasaursit and will be allowed access to the Prismatic Pickaxe. I’d assumed going through all this would be the end of all the obstacles, but purchasing the Pickaxe was the nail in the coffin for my Gold.
Getting the Prismatic Pickaxe in The Forge

Now that you’ve obtained the Mosasaursit, head inside the iceberg to find the Prismatic Pickaxe. Hope you had some cash ready, since it costs 2,000,000 Gold, making it the most expensive Pickaxe in The Forge. However, it’s also the best Pickaxe currently in the game, so it’s not entirely a lose-lose situation. See for yourself from the stats below:
- Mine Power: 650
- Mine Speed: +20%
- Luck Boost: +72%
- Rune Slots: 4
It’s the only Pickaxe in The Forge with 4 Rune Slots. I’d recommend you sell the Snow Pickaxe to earn back some extra Gold to purchase the Prismatic Pickaxe.
Obtaining this Pickaxe in The Forge will be time-consuming, but it will be worth the effort. Just make sure to have enough Gold ready so that you can actually purchase it after overcoming all the icy requirement barriers.
