The Forge’s Winter Update has added a brand new island, new quests, new NPCs, and pain. Why pain, you may ask? Well, it’s because of the Golem boss, the first-ever boss fight in the game.
The first time I fought this glacial beast, I got absolutely crushed. What made it worse was that I was fighting it solo when I could’ve called in others to help me in the fight. However, I wanted to earn the maximum possible rewards from it.
Eventually, after a couple of failed runs and a lot of trial and error, I figured out his attack patterns, the dodge timings, and when to attack, and took him down easily. I’ve curated an easy-to-follow guide to avoid his most punishing moves and turn Golem from an arctic nightmare to a slippery stutter step in The Forge.
Golem Boss Fight Location in The Forge

The Golem spawns once every hour inside the Peak Cave on top of the Summit’s Edge in Frostpire Expanse, the Forge’s third island. For those unaware, you need to be at least level 70 and have the Portal Tool to reach the Frostpire Expanse.
From the requirement itself, you can already figure out that the Golem boss fight isn’t meant for beginners. So, for players like me, who have reached the endgame content and are fiending for more, here’s what you need to do:
- Reach Frostspire Expanse in The Forge.
- From the spawn point, take a left.
- At the intersection, take the path on your right and keep moving upwards.
- The Peak Cave will be located on your left.
- Inside the Cave, you’ll find the Golem boss fight portal at the end.
The Cave is crawling with Common Orcs, so you can either take care of them or run past them quickly.
Golem’s Health Pool & Attacks in The Forge

The Golem will spawn shortly after you spawn inside the Boss Arena, via the portal. He has a massive health pool, which scales with the number of players inside the Boss Arena.
- One Player (Solo): 15,000 HP
- Two Players (Duo): 22,500 HP
- Three Players (Trio): 30,000 HP
- Four Players (Squad): 37,500 HP
A flashing red indicator on the ground will warn you where his attacks will land, but sometimes, the huge radius can make it hard to dodge the incoming blow.
To add ice crystals to the wound, you become slow for a couple of seconds if you get hit by his icy attacks. So, here’s what you need to watch out for:
- Golem Swipe & Punch: This is his base attack. The moment you get close to him, he’ll start swiping his arms to punch you and deal damage. This move won’t slow you down, but it will inflict some damage.
- Ice Stomp: When he’s not punching, he’ll perform an icy stomp, which sends a wave of huge ice crystals towards you. This attack has a good range, so you need to move out of the way as fast as you can.
- Shards From Above: When you’re at a distance, Golem will punch the ground, which causes ice shards to fall from above, dealing damage. After he punches, there’s a short delay along with a red indicator, so that’s your cue to move out.
- Ultimate Ground Pound: Golem’s ultimate attack is a massive ground pound that covers almost the entire Boss Arena. When he jumps up, the ground will start glowing red, and it’s borderline impossible to move out of the radius, since it’s so gigantic.
So, your move is to find those openings where he’s vulnerable and chip away at his colossal health pool. Form a party if you want more helping hands, or, like me, put the Golem where he belongs solo with these tips and tricks.
Tips & Tricks to Beat the Golem in The Forge

The red indicators on the ground are going to be your best friend during this fight, but even then, there’s a possibility of getting hit. To complete this boss fight successfully, here’s exactly what you need to do:
- You need to be on the move constantly, as there’s no telling when the Golem performs the ground pound. If you’re not moving, you become an easy target.
- Attack him after he’s done performing a move. So if he’s punching or calling down shards from above, move out of the way and wait for the right moment. As soon as he stops, get in there and deplete his health as much as you can.
- The ice stomp attack does not have a red indicator to tell you when to dodge. So, when he lifts his leg to stomp the ground, that’s your call to run.
- There’s a good chance he’ll perform the ground pound after he’s done with the previous attacks. So, when he jumps up, try to get as far away from him as possible. And if you do get hit, if you’re at a safe distance, the slow effect will subside before he can reach you.
Just keep attacking him as much as you can, and the 15,000 health pool will come down to 150 eventually. For your troubles, you’ll earn the following rewards:
- EXP (scales with the number of players fighting the boss)
- Gold (scales with the number of players fighting the boss)
- Legendary Essence
- Epic Essence
Personally, I’d recommend having the Demon race, since its Devil Finger ability will help you teleport and dash out of potential hits from the Golem. However, since that has a 0.5% chance of obtaining, you’re more likely to complete the boss fight first before rerolling that race into existence.
So, whether you’re up against him solo or fighting with a squad in The Forge, keep these tips and your mind, and you’ll be done with the fight in an icy flash. For more extensive guides on this RPG experience, check out the one on How To Get Prismatic Axe.
