How To Get More Food In Frostpunk 2

Frostpunk 2 is a survival city-building strategy game where you have to use your resources wisely or else you could lose all to the chilly winter. Producing food is one part of the game that a lot of new players may find challenging. A growing population, the production of other resources, and food output must all be balanced. Here is a guide on how to obtain additional food in Frostpunk 2.

How To Get Additional Food In Frostpunk 2

    Frostbreaking For Resources

The first step to securing food is to Frostbreak areas around your city. This involves clearing ice to reveal resource tiles that can be utilized for food production. You should prioritize breaking ice around fertile soil or known food sources, as these will yield significant food resources once extraction methods are established.

Construct Food Districts On Fertile Soil

You must create a Food District and search for Fertile Soil nodes (leaf icons) in the area in order to produce and obtain more food. To increase output and extend the life of the district, try covering several nodes.
Remember that placing Housing Districts close to Food Districts will result in +20 Heat, so attempt to arrange them next to one another. Build more Food Districts on tiles that produce food. By default, each one produces 50 Food output, and Expanded Food Districts provide 60 Food output by default.

Send Out Scouts For Other Food Sources

You can dispatch scouts to search the wide world for Harvesting Areas once you’ve established a Logistics District. These places are a great backup for your Food Districts when they run out of food.

Build Specific Buildings In Expanded Food District

Investigate these nodes, which provide access to buildings that boost food production, and construct them in districts:

    • Hothouses (Idea Tree: Resources). A Food District gains the ability to engage in “Excessive Fertilization” when a Hothouse is constructed there. This feature, which raises food production efficiency, can be used by clicking on the Food District and then the “Excessive Fertilization” circle at the bottom of the displayed information pane.
    • Advanced Hothouses (Idea Tree: Resources). Build in Food Districts.

Implement Laws That Help Food Production

Enact Laws that Target Food. Here is a list of those Laws along with details about how they are made available in the Council Hall:

    • Childhood: Mandatory School (Council: Society).
    • Food Additives: Foraged Additives or Chemical Additives (Council: Survival).

    Both laws are available immediately.

     Use Frostland Resources

Exploring the Frostland is essential for finding additional food sources. Sending teams to (Harvesting Areas) gather old food supplies or hunt seals can provide extra rations when stockpiles run low. Ensure you have enough Frostlanders available to transport these resources back to your city, while others (Outposts) must be connected to the City with a Trail or Skyway.

    Improve Production Efficiency

Increase overall Production Efficiency to improve Food output in Food Districts by research on the following :

    • Rail Hubs (Idea Tree: Hubs), and build them near Food Districts.
    • Drugs Manufactory: Stimulants Manufactory (Idea Tree: City), and build the unlocked Building in an Industrial District. This is a Radical Idea that requires progress with Merit.
    • Work Compensation: Efficiency Bonus (Idea Tree: City), and enact it as a Law (Council: City).
    • Labour Organisation: Labour Oversight (Idea Tree: City), and enact it as a Law (Council: City).
    • Enact Basic Necessities: Paid Essentials (Council: City).
    • An idea in Workers’ Housing (Idea Tree: City), and build the unlocked Building in an appropriate District.
    • Waste Heat Conversion: Heat Overclocking (Idea Tree: Resources), and enact it as a Law (Council: Survival).
    • Workplace Control: Empowered Management (Idea Tree: City), and enact it as a Law (Council: City). This is a Radical Idea that requires progress with Merit.

    Monitor Population Growth

Decrease the number of people by relocating them to a settled colony. As you explore Frostpunk 2’s Frostland, this option will become available. However, once they get at their new home, they will still need to be taken care of. It’s advisable to have additional production buildings ready before new citizens arrive.

    Build A Panaceum Factory

You will also get an option to build a Panaceum Factory as a Radical Idea from Stalwarts – which well, extracts ‘health-promoting nutrients’ from corpses and sends it out as food!

Where To Store Food In Frostpunk 2?

All the food that you collect gets stored in the Food Stockpile Hub, which has a capacity of 50,000. If you do manage to hit the max capacity of food storage, you can construct an additional Food Stockpile Hub to increase the capacity by another 50,000; which should be good enough to last through the Campaign mode at least. The Food Stockpile Hub can be constructed by selecting the Hub icon at the bottom right of the screen and will need 100 Workforce, 80 Heatstamps and 50 Prefabs.
