Having a fairy-type Pokémon by your side adds some real depth to your team. And what better pick than Mega AZ Floette in Pokémon Legends: Z-A? You can get it for free, but it’ll take a bit of grinding. If you are willing to spend the time, below are the steps to unlock Mega AZ Floette, along with other necessary information.

To get Mega AZ Floette, beat the postgame Infinite ZA Royale challengers 15 times and then defeat your rival’s Mega AZ Floette. One major requirement to get this fairy-type Pokémon is that you need to have completed the story mode in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. After you have completed the story mode, head over to Quasartico Inc. and check in for rewards matches.

Each match costs 50,000 points, and you’ll randomly get paired with challengers you’ve battled across your journey. To reach the Mega AZ Floette battle, you’ll need to repeat the process of gaining 50,000 points and then winning against your challengers 14 times.

But when you enter Quasartico Inc. for the battle for the 15th time, you’ll get paired against either Urbain or Taunie. This battle will have its own cutscenes, which start with your rival stating, “Isn’t the Infinite ZA Royale great? I haven’t had a chance for an all-out match with you since we fought to see who’s the strongest Mega Evolution user!”

After you defeat five Pokémons of your rival, they’ll bring out Floette as their final one. However, they’ll start an evolution with the dialogue, “Time to use the power of our bonds with everyone in Lumiose… and Mega Evolve!”

You need to defeat the fairy-type Pokémon to move further towards obtaining it. When you win the battle, it will invoke another cutscene where Emma comes looking for your rival. You’ll get a quest to head over to Quasartico Inc. to complete the mission.

Here, another cutscene will start where Emma points out that your rival got their jacket from their mother. Here, Jett reveals, “That jacket was a gift from me.” It comes to light that your rival is the granddaughter of Jett, and she wants them to take over the responsibilities of the CEO of Quasartico Inc.

Your rival, in turn, gifts you Floettite, a Mega Stone that helps Floette Mega Evolve during battles, and Floette. Once you complete the Infinite ZA Royale mission, Floette will join your team, ready for battle.
