How To Get & Increase Splendor In Foundation

Foundation may just look like another city builder, but there is a lot more going on here that will require your undivided attention. While working on your settlement, there are a lot of features to keep in mind to keep your village happy and thriving. You might come across a few terminologies that confuse you, and one of the most important ones is Splendor. In this guide we will show you what Splendor does in Foundation and how to increase it.

Splendor might seem like an important term to remember, but implementing it in Foundation is rather simple. To get and increase Splendor, all you need to do is keep building new structures. These structures can be add-ons to other buildings that are specifically tied to certain Estates. To access your Estates, you can press F5 and you will get a tab with three sections, mainly Labor, Clergy, and Kingdom. Each time you build a structure related to any of the Estates, you gain a certain amount of Splendor.

Each Estate has a particular building attached to it, and if you place accessories or additions with the respective structure, you gain Splendor with that particular Estate. The structures you need to build for each Estate to get Splendor are as follows:

    • Labor: Tavern, Manor House, Market
    • Kingdom: Wooden Keep
    • Clergy: Monastery, Church, Masterpiece Cross

Once you have these structures, you will get a list of all add-ons that are required for each one. While it is not necessary to build them, to increase Splendor, you will require it. Some additional structures will give you more Splendor than others, and you can check out how much Splendor you get when you hover your cursor over the items marked with a green/yellow star. The Splendor gained per structure can go anywhere between +0.5 and +2.0. You can find all the buildable items that will give you Splendor within the Edit section of a main building.

The best part of Foundation is that there is no cap on how many structures you can build within a settlement. As long as you have the space and money for it, you can keep building as many as you like. This is a great way to gain more Splendor, as you can build multiple markets, monasteries, or manor houses, and in turn, build their additional structures. Decorations will also grant you a small amount of Splendor, so don’t skip out on those. Some structures like the Manor House will give you an additional 1.5 Splendor when additional structures are built around it, so you can keep those rolling to keep your Splendor up.

While learning about Splendor will take a bit of time, you still need to learn a lot more about Foundation. Why not check out our other Foundation guides like Cloth Production and Gathering Hut to know more.
