How To Find Curious Deposits In No Man’s Sky

It is going to take you a lot of time playing No Man’s Sky to realise how valuable Runaway Mould can be and the only consistent source comes from Curious Deposits. But these deposits are not only curious they are also quite rare and elusive. So, here is how you can easily find Curious Deposits in No Man’s Sky

Curious Deposits in No Man’s Sky are most commonly found on Lush Planets as well as Toxic and Radioactive Planets. It’s a “3-star” resource represented by the yellow icon when scanning with your Analysis Visor.

I have had the most luck finding these on planets with Star Brambles and Paraffinium aka Lush Planets. Simply land on the surface and use your Analysis Visor to look for the yellow 3-star icon. Once you find it, you can mine it with your Mining Laser to get Runaway Mould in NMS.

The most important tip when trying to find Curious Deposits is that every planet that spawns a potential “3-star” resource can only have one of the three types: Sac Venom, Metal Finger and Curious Deposits. So leave the planet and find another if you found the 3-star resource but it’s not Curious Deposits.

Why are Curious Deposits so Valuable in No Man’s Sky?

Mining Curious Deposits gives you Runaway Mould, which you might’ve stumbled upon before as well and just like any other player would, you thought it was a junk item with no good use so you discarded it. Little do you know, Runaway Mould is probably one of the most useful items in the game as it can be refined into Nanite Clusters.

Refining Runaway Mould x5 will give you a single Nanite Cluster which can then be used to gain Nanites. Many technology and other cosmetic customisations are unlocked through Nanites so farming Curious Deposits in No Man’s Sky can be a quick way to get a lot of Nanites.
