You will need to get the Key of Apostate to get the Key of Indolent and then get the Key of Heretic to open the route to the First Sinner Boss fight. While unlocking the route, the boss is a bit complex, and the same goes for the difficulty of facing the boss. Here are all the attacks and methods you can use to defeat the First Sinner boss in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
The First Sinner Boss Guide In Hollow Knight: Silksong
The First Sinner Boss comes with two phases, but thankfully, the second phase does not add too many new moves; in most cases, it is just the first phase moves repeated with one new move introduced. First, let’s look at all the movesets in the first phase, along with how to survive them, the best time to land in a few attacks of your own, and then look at the same set of things for the second phase.
All First Sinner Attacks (First Phase)
The first phase contains two sets of attacks, both of which are deadly, but they do give out time to hit and heal. We are going to talk about both cases and the tactic that could help you stay ahead in the battle.
Needle Strike

This is going to be the common move throughout the fight; the boss is going to fling the needles with strings attached at you, whether pointing at the ground or to the side. The attack moves fast, but there is a small windup that you will spot with practice. You will also see the projection of the Needle attack; this will help you predict the exact landing spot of the attack. The best way to dodge this attack is by looking at the projection of the needle attack and moving out of the way.
After the Needles drop, you can either attack or heal up quickly. The boss takes a small break when it switches between Needle attacks; the follow-up attack will show up after a few seconds. Use these precious seconds to land a hit or heal up.
Brawling Move

The boss will go to either the left or the right corner of the room and start swinging haymakers towards you. The best tactic here is to jump out of the way. The same goes for when it starts doing the swinging moves from both corners of the room. There is not too much of an opportunity to attack, unless you jump and land a couple of hits from above as the boss dashes by.
Surviving the First Phase
In the first phase, watch out for the teleportation; the boss will always switch to a new attack after it teleports. So always be ready to attack the boss before it teleports to a new spot. Once it has teleported to a new area, the chances are it will attack soon. So don’t heal or try to attack once the boss has teleported to a new location.
Hitting the boss too many times will inflict stun. When the boss gets stunned, it will fall on the ground with a white circle running over its head. Here, deal as many hits as humanly possible before the stun time is over. Another great moment to attack is when the boss is trying to heal up by doing the same binding that Hornet does to heal herself. Suffice to say, when you see the boss moving silk around to heal, just land some hits.
Switching to Second Phase
The boss will disappear for a few seconds and give out a rallying cry in the air. This will begin the second phase of the fight. The second will be a mixture of the first two attacks of the first phase with the new attack. Just like the 2-phase fight with the Widow, the speed at which the boss unleashes its moveset will increase as the second phase progresses.
Explosive Circles

The second phase will start with this new attack, where the boss will spawn multiple circles in the air at random locations. After a few seconds, these circles will explode. The only tactic here is to move out of the circle area and stay in the normal space. The boss always leaves many areas for the player to move around without getting in contact with the circles.
Surviving the Second Phase
The second phase will feature mostly the attacks of the first phase. Once you have mastered the dodging and hitting of the first two attacks, the second phase will be a breeze. First Sinner has consistency in its attacks; it always switches between the first two attacks repeatedly. This will allow you to learn the moves and pick up the blind spot in its attacks. The second phase has an exposive circle, but that always plays in the background; its common attacks are deadly.
It helps if you have upgraded the Needle at least twice. Overall, the boss is challenging, and it will take some trial and error to analyze the safe spot during the attacks. At first, the boss’s speed can confuse the player as it constantly switches between the first and second attack randomly. Always be on guard to move, and don’t let greed consume you to hit the boss when it is about to attack, or that’s a sure-fire way to end the battle quickly in Hollow Knight Silksong.
