Trobbio is one of the key boss fights you have to participate in while exploring the massive Pharloom of Hollow Knight Silksong. Much like every boss in-game, Trobbio is a formidable one, and he will annoy you to no end unless you know how to defeat him.
So if you are struggling to defeat Trobbio in his boss fight, you have arrived at the right place. In this guide, we take a look at this boss in detail, discuss its location, check out its attack patterns, and share tips to overcome this challenge.
Trobbio Boss Guide in Hollow Knight: Silksong

While venturing in the world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, you will initially encounter Trobbio early on as a foreshadowing. You, however, will not fight Trobbio until you reach the Choral Chambers. Once there, you’ll have to arrive at the Grand Bellway portion of the map. You’ll also find a rest bench right before the boss fight.
You need to keep an eye on these attacks from Trobbio:
- The starting pyro: Stay far away from the cloud that forms in the middle of the boss room. Trobbio appears in a grandiose way, and with it, also hits Hornet through the Pyro.
- The trio bombs: Trobbio will throw multiple bombs, which form horizontal and vertical lines randomly around the boss room. The frequency of Trobbio throwing these balls increases when he reaches the third part of his boss fight.
- Tornado spin: Trobbio will spin around like a tornado across the room, ending it by launching two tornadoes towards the sides of the room.
- Fireworks: The trio bombs sometimes produce fireworks, which are easy to detect by the shiny particles that eventually burst into large bombs.
- Ground pyro: Trobbio will sometimes summon multiple streaks of pyro reaching the ceiling from the ground. Touching these pyros hurts Hornet.
- The end fakeout: Right after defeating Trobbio, he will start faking out, trying to catch players off guard. In the meantime, Trobbio slowly keeps moving towards Hornet, ending the fight with a large firework burst that will hurt you.
Tips to Defeat Trobbio

Trobbio thankfully does not come with any additional phases. Keep these tips in mind while fighting Trobbio.
- Right before Trobbio appears for the first time, move to the extreme sides of the room to avoid getting hurt from Pyro. You’ll slowly start seeing a smoke forming in the middle of the room before he appears. When that starts happening, that is your cue to immediately move to the sides. Immediately after he appears, you can hit him twice if you time your movement and close the distance between Hornet and Trobbio.
- Trobbio’s Trio Bombs leave out a lot of empty spaces around the boss’s room. You will briefly see a white flash line appearing in the room to show where the bomb’s pyro will reach. When you see that, avoid and move away from the lines of cracker fire when the balls start blasting. The chance to hit Trobbio at that exact point is difficult since the bombs’ pyro generally cross each other. Hence, the best thing to do most times is to avoid attacking Trobbio until you find an opening to hit him.
- When Trobbio starts spinning like a tornado, time your jump and avoid the attack. If you have the Reaper Crest, you can jump over Trobbio and attack him from above. Otherwise, you can dodge and time your attacks. When Trobbio launches the Tornado, close the distance, and hit him once or twice.
- When you start seeing the cracker particles on the screen, start moving and jumping towards any space without these. The firecrackers burst in successive waves, so take your time, find an opening, and hit Trobbio. Until the third part of the fight, Trobbio generally doesn’t do anything during this moment. Hence, take advantage of that.
- Similarly, move away from the ground pyro when the shoot. You’ll have ample space to move without any pyro. Go and stand at such a place around the boss’s room. It is best to avoid hitting Trobbio because the Pyro generally covers half of the room horizontally, and you cannot cross it without damaging yourself.
- Finally, start moving away from Trobbio when he starts faking out in the end. You can’t hit him during this, so don’t bother to hit him.

On defeating Trobbio, you get the Claw Mirror. This tool takes up a Blue slot in the Crest and has good utility, especially if you find yourself surrounded by bugs. When the Claw Mirror is equipped, every time you Bind, you emit an AOE flash that damages nearby enemies. This helps you keep an aggressive stance in a tough fight, since even your downtime for healing now continues the damage dealt to enemies.
