The world of Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2 is completely overrun by Tyranid enemies. Tyranids appear in various forms and under various classes. They are also categorized based on their threat level, which gives you a clear indicator of what you are going against. Spore Mines often appear throughout Operations and Campaign, and they usually come in droves. It can get difficult to control them and defeat them, hence why we have put this guide together

In this guide, we will show you how you can defeat Spore Mines in Space Marine 2, their attack patterns, and the best strategies to get rid of them in Space Marine 2. They might seem intimidating at first, but you can quickly get rid of them if you know how.

What Are Spore Mines In Space Marine 2?

Spore Mines are tiny Tyranid enemies that appear in swarms and explode on impact, creating huge AoE detonations close by. These are Majoris level threats and are frequently released by Biovores.

    • Faction: Tyranid
    • Type: Biovores
    • Durability: Light
    • Threat Level: Majoris

The reason why they are at Majoris level is because their damage ratio when they detonate is huge. Getting caught within their area of impact will deal a massive blow to you or a teammate who gets caught within the explosion.

Types Of Spore Mines In Space Marine 2

Spore Mines come in three variants, and each of them have different attack types. There’s the Poison Spore Mine, the Frag Spore Mines, and the Bio Acid Spore Mines. Below are all the details of their attack types

    • Poison Spore Mine: They usually attack using toxins and poisons and release them on impact with targets. Upon impact, Poison Spore Mines typically attack and damage targets via neuro-toxin, aflatoxin, and hemotoxin
    • Bio-Acid Spore Mines: As the name suggests, you will be dealt with acidic damage when these types of Spore Mines explode on you. Upon explosion, they will release thick acidic sludge that will stick to the target and cause damage over time.
    • Frag Spore Mines: While these Spore Mine types don’t release anything toxic, they will release an array of shrapnel that will cause piercing damage on unsuspecting targets. They deal one-time damage upon impact, but the damage output will deplete a large chunk of your health.

How To Beat Spore Mines in Space Marine 2

Spore Mines will always travel in swarms, so if you see them you need to think fast. Sometimes they will appear in areas that you need to pass through, making it difficult to bypass them. The only way to defeat them is to shoot them outright. One bullet through one of the Spore Mines is enough to cause a rapid chain reaction. This will cause several explosions within the radius of impact, and you may or may not receive damage as well.

Spore Mines will start glowing red or beeping just before they detonate. To deal with Spore Mines, a good ranged weapon is your best bet. Any weapon that belongs to the Sniper class will work here, or you can pick up any of the Bolt Rifle types from the Tactical class. Next, keep your distance, take aim, and shoot. As long as you avoid their AoE, you can quickly get away.

In case you do get swarmed, dodge and stay away from their line of impact. Try to create some distance between you and the Spore Mines, then toss a grenade at the Spore Mines closest to you. Any Spore Mine that is still standing can be handled by shooting them down. In case they appear along with other Tyranid enemies, single out the Spore Mines and attack them first. This will cause a large detonation and cause damage to all enemies nearby
