The new Monster update in R.E.P.O. now brings in several new monster enemies and a new map to explore. While most enemies are bound to kill you, you might encounter one who is slightly different. You might randomly find a dog yapping near you, and while it may seem harmless at first, things can take a tragic turn rather quickly. This guide will show you how to deal with Elsa the dog in R.E.P.O.
What Does Elsa Do in R.E.P.O
Elsa is a Level 1 monster that randomly spawns around the various maps. When first encountered, she will appear as a fluffy white dog who will yap and run around any Semibot it spots. She also has around 600 Health, which is the highest amongst any other monster in the game. Usually, at this stage, Elsa is pretty harmless and just wants to be petted. But it will turn into a monstrous entity if you don’t follow its wishes.
If you spot Elsa following you, stop whatever you are doing and pet it. To pet her, just press the interact button while you are close by. You will see several heart icons appear around her. Usually, after that, she will run away for a while, only to return for more petting. Continue to do this whenever Elsa comes around to avoid getting her into an enraged state.
How to Beat Elsa
If you ignore her for 15 seconds or more, or if she is attacked by enemies, she will turn into a large, hulking dog and chase after you. Each of her hits deals +5 damage, and she is also capable enough to knock you back and stun-lock you. Plus, if you hit objects or walls, then you get an additional +25 damage. Elsa can jump and crouch, making it impossible to hide. The best way to deal with her is to run as far away as possible while she transforms, since it takes a while for her transformation to be completed.
Elsa’s enraged state doesn’t last forever, and she will shrink back to a normal dog after a while. But, to stop her from attacking you, there are a few things you could try.
- Use the Duck Bucket to ambush and confuse her. It won’t deal any damage, but you get a few seconds to get out of there.
- Flash grenades or any weapon that deals stun damage are useful here. Stun her, toss her away, then book it out of there.
- If you are out of luck, any heavy-duty weapon like the Sledgehammer might work here. But it is best to avoid confrontation, since she has extremely high HP.
- Using the Timid Elsa mod will ensure that Elsa never turns into a monstrous being, even when not petted for a while.
