How to Catch a Tsuchinoko in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Some tasks in Metal Gear Solid Delta are tied to achievements, and figuring most of them out is quite a chore. There is a legendary creature to capture called the Tsuchinoko, and finding this elusive beast unlocks a hidden achievement. The only problem is, finding a Tsuchinoko is no easy task. This guide will detail all the ways to get the Tsuchinoko in Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater.

Earliest Location To Catch A Tsuchinoko in Metal Gear Solid Delta

Since Tsuchinokos are incredibly small, the only way to capture them is with a mousetrap. Mouse-traps are found during exploration and investigation of the various buildings, and the earliest mousetrap you get is at Bolshaya Past Base. Bolshaya Past South is also the earliest location to capture a Tsuchinoko, since it is before you reach the Pain boss fight.

Once you reach this place, keep going till you reach Bolshaya Past Base first and pick up the mousetrap from under one of the beds and within the wooden provisions shed in the central area. Head back to Bolshaya Past South and place the mousetrap near the northern patrol guard spawn. Leave the area and head back to Past Base, then return after a minute or two to find a trapped Tsuchinoko.

Tsuchinokos in Metal Gear Solid Delta appear in the following locations:

    • Tikhogornyj
    • Bolshaya Past South
    • Graniny Gorki South
    • The Swamplands, North, and South Dremuchij
    • Chyornyj Prud
    • South and West Svyatogornyj
    • North, South, and West Sokrovenno

If you are unsuccessful at capturing the Tsuchinoko at Bolshaya Past South, the next best place to go is Graniny Gorki South. After defeating The Fear, just before leaving the area, place down a couple of mousetraps at the center of the arena. Exit the area via the Graniny Gorki Lab Exterior and wait for a while.

Reenter the area and crawl towards the mousetraps; one of them should have the Tsuchinoko. If you don’t find the creature, collect whatever animals you have captured and place the mousetraps down here again. This method is repeatable, so try doing this step as many times as you want here.

Now comes the hard part, where you need to keep the Tsuchinoko in your inventory till the end of the game to unlock rewards. But, if you are captured in Gronznyj Grad with a Tsuchinoko in your inventory, it will be lost. Luckily, after making your escape to Tikhogornyj, you get to spot it again.

Make your way towards the waterfall to regroup with EVA and collect your weapons first, then exit the waterfall back into Tikhogornyj and search the area for the Tsuchinoko. Check the ground around this area; it is visible in plain sight. Use your thermal goggles if you are having a hard time. Once you spot it, use any tranq gun to stun it, then collect it and add it back to your inventory.

    Tsuchinoko Capture Rewards

Capturing a Tsuchinoko isn’t just for fun, as there are various unique rewards tied to it. Not only do you get the Believe It or Not Trophy, but you also receive the Infinity Face Paint and the Tsuchinoko Title when you start a NG+. The Infinity Face Paint unlocks infinite ammo in your next run, which is exceptionally useful in tearing down enemies early.

The only thing you need to keep in mind to get the rewards is to keep the Tsuchinoko in your inventory till the end of the game. Consuming it will not give you any rewards or achievements, and you only get one chance to capture this creature.
