RoadCraft is not your regular road builder, as you need to carefully map out the best routes and use the appropriate vehicles to help you out. One of the more important aspects of playing the game is to learn how to build roads. There is a quest very early in the game that will require you to build a road to connect between two villages. This guide will explain how to build roads in RoadCraft.
Paving the Way Trophy Guide in RoadCraft
After unlocking your new base, you will get a call from Kelly. She will tell you that your next task is to build a road between Anbala and the Transit Point so supplies can start coming into the village. She will also inform you about an optional objective, to plan a route between the Transit Point and Panamar.
Depending on what you plan to do first, you can go to the game menu and go to the Objectives tab. From there, you can switch between the main quest or optional quest and select which area you want to start tracking first. Once you have started tracking an objective, you will get a rough imaging on the path that you need to construct.
There are 4 steps that you need to keep in mind while building a road, and they are listed below.
- Collect sand and bring them to the site using the Dump Truck.
- Lay down the sand and use the Dozer to flatten it.
- Collect Asphalt and lay it down using the Asphalt Paver.
- Finally, use the Asphalt Roller to flatten it down.
Clear the Road and Collect Sand
First, use a bulldozer to clear the marked path and keep it free from debris like rocks and boulders. Next, use the Dump Truck and send it to a Quarry to collect sand, then bring it over to the site and lay it all across the path. It will take multiple trips to fill out the road with sand, so plan an automatic route back and forth so you don’t have to keep an eye on it always.
Use the Bulldozer
Switch back to the dozer and run it along the sand laid path to flatten it. This will provide a fatter surface to lay down the asphalt and provide enough support to place a proper road. Just running the dozer over the path once is enough to flatten it, but you can go over it once more if you find it a bit uneven.
Lay down Asphalt
Asphalt can be collected while scavenging debris, and you can collect it using the Asphalt Paver like the DS135A. After that, run the vehicle over the desired pathway to lay down the asphalt evenly. The Paver will automatically lay down the asphalt using a hopper, and will level it out using screed. Note that asphalt only sticks to sand flooring, and using anything besides sand will not help you create a proper road.
Flatten the Asphalt
As a final step, you need to use the Asphalt Roller like the DS55K to flatten the asphalt that was laid down. Using the weight of the rollers, you can drive the vehicle over the path to finally create a proper asphalt road. You can repeat the above steps to complete the other objective as well.
The achievement will unlock after creating your first asphalt road, and you can finally establish a proper route to the villages to bring in supplies.
