How To Bring the First Navigational Relay Online in The Last Caretaker

Upon reaching Beacon 49, your first quest is to restore power and reactivate the Navigational Relay. Steps to achieve this are unclear, but this guide will help you power up the relay in The Last Caretaker.

To power up Beacon 49, head into the smaller room to your right after the ramp. Inside, you’ll find a power console needing an electricity source. There are two ways to activate it. The easy way would be to place a small battery in front of the machine and use a cable to connect the battery to the console.

Or, you could just directly attach the cable to the machine and drag it to the power source near the entrance, provided you had fixed the solar panels outside to supply power. Whichever method you choose, pull the switch on the terminal to power up the outpost.

Head to the Relay Control Room

Exit the power room and enter the main station right beside it. Head up the stairs and interact with the terminal at the end of the passage. Choose the option to Acquire Beacon 49 Authorization. This will unlock the door beside you, giving you access to the Navigational Relay. There are a few small enemies inside the room, but that can be taken care of using a simple crowbar.

    Charge the Relay

There are two ways to power up the relay. If you had fixed the solar panels at the station, then use the cable extender to extend the power cables and attach it to the relay. While this supplies continuous power, it will take longer to fill the power meter of the relay.

The second method will be to use 4x small batteries and connect them one by one to the relay. This method is faster, and each battery will supply 25% power. Even after that, if you are lacking, connect a cable from the relay to yourself to supply the last bit of power, provided you have enough energy.

    Repair the Communication Array

Exit the room while the relay charges up and head up the stairs. You will find a tower with scaffolding that you can use to climb up to the very top, where the Communication Array is. Once you reach the top, bring out your Repair Tool. You will also require 2x Plastic, 2x Copper, and 4x Iron to fix the Array. After repairing the array, release the ladder from behind the device and make your way down.

As the final step to the quest, all you need to do is head back to the Control Room and activate the Relay once it’s at full power. This will complete this quest and give you access to the new Lazarus Complex in The Last Caretaker.
