Unlike most areas where you can visit and buy maps from the trader, Putrified Ducts is rather hidden away, along with its map. How to Reach the Putrified Ducts in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Required Abilities: Swift Step, Faydown Cloak, Drifter’s Cloak, and Cling Grip.
Before we share the location of the map for Putrified Ducts, we’ll have to explain how to reach this area. Putrified Ducts is a hidden area in Hollow Knight: Silksong. This means that if you keep following the intended path in-game, you’ll probably never reach this place.
The chances of locating this area generally involve either accidentally stumbling upon it or randomly appearing in it. Furthermore, if you want to arrive at the Putrified Ducts, here’s how:
- Putrified Ducts is hidden right beside the area called Memorium. This place is located at the Citadel, which is a late-game area of Hollow Knight: Silksong. So, you’ll have to play through quite a bit before you reach this place.
- After you rest at the Memorium bench, start moving towards the right of the screen. Keep moving until you reach an area with two lanterns hanging from the roof.
- Jump upwards to reach a secret platform, and hit the lever to reach inside a large, long compound. Run all the way to the end of this area until you arrive at a stone wall.
- Do Cling Grip jump and Swift Step mid-air, until you reach the highest possible flat area on the rock. Hit the rock wall to open a secret pathway that takes you to the Putrified Ducts.
From here, you’ll have to maneuver and double jump carefully to avoid getting hurt by the spikes until you reach the actual area. Once you arrive at a bridge surrounded by dimly lit street lamps, you’ll know that you’ve reached the area.
Putrified Ducts Map Location In Silksong
Now that we’ve arrived where we have to be, it is time to locate the map. Unlike most areas, like the Sand of Karak, you cannot buy the map from the trader using Rosaries. Instead, you’ll have to find the map in one of the areas of the game. Fortunately, the map for this location is located in the area itself. Here’s where you can find the map for the Putrified Ducts.
- First, start moving rightwards by platforming and avoiding/killing the enemies. Enemies in this area shoot bile juices, and touching the water will briefly prevent Hornet from using her skills or replenish her health. You’ll also encounter an enemy that has a long tongue hanging from the roof, and touching the tongue will get Hornet trapped and pulled towards it.
- Once you’ve done enough jumping and platforming, you’ll reach the end of the first area. Do a Cling Grip on the left wall, and a Swift Step mid-air to cross and exit the area.
- In the second area, start falling downwards. You don’t go anywhere in this room. Carefully jump down, taking the help of the platforms to reach the bottom of this room. You’ll find an exit on the left side of the room. Take it and go to the next area.
- In this room, move to the end of the room towards the left side, and get grabbed by the long-tongued enemy stuck on the roof. When you see the platforms above the spiked walls, start struggling and escape from the clutches of the enemy.
Reach all the way to the right side, and you’ll find a table and some dead bugs around. Inspect the table when prompted, and you’ll have the Putrified Ducts map in your possession. From here on, exploring the area should become that much easier with a map in hand.
