In the latest Unseen Update for Hades 2, you get to work on unlocking weapon upgrades termed as Hidden Aspects. There are 6 weapons in the game, and you can make them stronger by getting these upgrades. Since this function is quite new, it would take some time to learn the ropes. Also, there is a new section where you can fight some elite bosses under the Vow of Rivals, and this guide will cover all the basics of both these functions in Hades 2.
How to Unlock Hidden Aspects in Hades 2

You unlock Hidden Aspects by unlocking all 6 weapons in the game, and then upgrading each one till you get at least one Weapon Aspect per weapon. Depending on which aspect you are going for, you can further upgrade them till it gets to Rank 5. You can then talk to the respective NPCs either at the Surface or Underworld, and they will help you unlock the Hidden Aspect of said weapon.
This will require the Waking Phase, which is only possible to attain once per run. So you would have to perform multiple runs for each weapon to get the Hidden Aspects unlocked. Also, be sure that you don’t have any Waking Phases active while talking to the NPCs, as their unique dialogs to get the Hidden Aspect will not show up.
Below are all the NPCs you need to talk to for each weapon type, and their unlock requirements.
- Staff: Talk to Circe at the Surface after upgrading at least 1 Staff upgrade to Rank 5.
- Dagger: Find Artemis either at the Surface or Underground, but she will only appear in chambers that have menus.
- Torches: Talk to Moros at Crossroads. Also, you cannot get the Torch aspect as the first Hidden Aspect, so you have to unlock any other weapon’s aspect first.
- Axe: Speak to Charon at his shop during a run.
- Revaal: Meet Medea at the Surface.
- Coat: Speak to Selene during a run and get her Hex and, in turn, receive the Waking Phase. Be sure that you don’t speak to her at her shop or at any rewards chamber that appears before the final boss chamber.
How to Unlock Vow of Rivals in Hades 2

Vow of Rivals is another boss fighting arena, but there are several steps to complete before you can enter this phase. Just follow the steps below and you can get the Vow of Rivals unlocked as well.
- To unlock the first Vow of Rivals and get the first incantation, you need to defeat Hecate twice and also defeat Polyphemus once.
- After that, with +1 Fear, speak to Hecate to get the first incantation required to activate the Oath of the Unseen. You would have seen this after beating Chronos during your first run.
- To get to the second Vow of Rivals round, you need to enter it the first time and defeat both Rival bosses; namely Hecate and Polyphemus.
- You would also need to defeat the normal boss Charybdis at least one time, along with defeating Scylla and Eris three times each.
- Once you have the third Vow of Rivals unlocked, defeat the rival Scylla and rival Eris. Then, you need to defeat normal Cerberus and normal Prometheus thrice each.
- For the fourth round, beat Rivals Cerberus and Prometheus, then follow that up by beating normal Chronos and Typhon thrice.
Completing all rounds of the Vow of Rivals will require you to do multiple runs, and can get quite challenging as the rounds go on.
