The Gothic 1 Remake is an RPG that has all the usual builds you’d expect from a medieval fantasy adventure. You can be a strength build, a mage, or something more sneaky based on dexterity. You can even mix and match and make hybrid builds like battle-mages. But Gothic doesn’t have a vast amount of weapons as some games do, so it’s easy to identify the best weapons for each build.
When we say best weapons in Gothic, we mostly mean the most powerful, endgame weapons you should aim to hunt down, and once you have them, you’ll know you’re as dangerous as you can be. Gothic isn’t like Diablo, so you won’t be switching out weapons and loot that often. Once you have these weapons, you’ll have reached the pinnacle for each build.
Best weapons for each build in Gothic

So forget your rusty swords and starting bows, the weapons in this table are the ones you’ll want to have before you go toe to toe with the Sleeper at the end of the game:
| Weapon | Type | Build | How to get |
| Scar’s Sword | Sword | One-Handed Strength build (Or battlemage leaning into Strength as primary stat) | Take off Scar after you defeat him. You can actually get this early if you loot it off his unconscious body. |
| Innos’ Rage | Two-Handed Sword | Two-Handed pure Strength build | Take off Gomez once he’s been killed or knocked out. |
| Bow of Death | Bow | Dexterity (Bow focused) | Buy from vendors around Chapter 4. |
| Crossbow of War | Crossbow | Dexterity (Crossbow build) | In a chest in the Ore Baron’s Fortress, or buy from Wolf or Cavalorn. |
| Charged Uriziel | Magic Sword (so don’t worry about Strength) | Pure Mage | The weapon’s final form is given to you towards the end of the story; use the Orc hammer before this point. |
While these weapons represent the very best of what’s on offer in the Gothic 1 Remake, it’s entirely up to you which ones you choose to use. After all, you’ll need to rely on other weapons for most of the game, but once you get access to these, we’d highly recommend them.
Most can be obtained easily by just playing through the story, either because you’ll need to fight and loot their previous owners, or you’ll have multiple opportunities to buy or find a weapon. So, you’ll not need to specifically chase any down. Most will make their way to you naturally.
Those who enjoy maces and axes can also stick to those weapon types, but as we were primarily concerned with builds here, we’ve picked the best weapons for each of those playstyles. Technically, bows and crossbows require the same stats, but the style of play and combat is very different, so we gave these separate entries.
One-handed and two-handed weapons are entirely different stats, so they count as different builds, but this can’t be said of axes, swords, and maces. They either fall into the one-handed category or the two-handed category – and Scar’s Sword and Innos’ Rage always win out, respectively.
