When you are in the middle of a large, unexplored world, you want to travel quickly to cover more areas in a small amount of time. In Everwind, walking is certainly an option, but you would want to build a ship as quickly as possible for faster travel to cover more areas of its unseen world.
Luckily, the game didn’t throw too many quests before giving me the option to build my own ship. The tutorial to start crafting my own ship was quick, and the entire setup just took a couple of minutes to complete.
All the materials required for ship crafting can be obtained on the first island, the tutorial location, without too much time grinding. The ship-building process happens instantaneously without any artificial waiting timer on the side. Here is a complete guide to building your own ship in Everwind.
Getting the Tutorial Quest for Ship Building

In the tutorial dungeon, once you find the Wooden Steering Wheel inside the treasure chest, you will get the mission to build the flying ship in the game. The treasure chest is part of the tutorial questline. The key to the chest is on the skeleton next to it.
Loot the Wooden Steering Wheel and then head outside and locate the destroyed ship on the island. Just follow the objective marker to get to the spot, now scan all the blue colored debris with your compass to learn the recipes of all the ship’s parts. You will learn the recipe for the Cockpit, Energy Generator, Wooden Engine, and lastly, the Wooden Balloon.
Before we begin crafting, you will need to set up a crafting station to create the parts needed to fully craft the entire ship.
Ship’s Part Crafting

- Cockpit: x6 Steamer Metal Scrap/ 10x Stick/ x1 Steering Gear/ x1 Wooden Steering Wheel
- Energy Generator: x10 Steamer Metal Scrap/ x10 Forestwood Plank/ x16 Copper Nails/ x20 Rocks
- Wooden Engine: x4 Steamer Metal Scrap/ x10 Sticks/ x9 Forestwood Plank/ x4 Rope/ x1 Rotor
- Wooden Balloon: x6 Steamer Metal Scrap/ x4 Balloon Attachment/ x10 Cloths/ x8 Rope.
You don’t need to head out to another island to find the materials; you will easily find them in the tutorial section of the map. Just make sure to loot everything to get more than the required amount of materials in your possession.
Once you have obtained all the materials, craft the ship’s parts (Cockpit, Energy Generator, Wooden Engine, Wooden Balloon), and put them in the shortcut bar at the bottom of the screen. We will have to install them in the same fashion as we place a cupboard in the game. Make sure to drag all the ship’s parts into the shortcut bar for quicker access.
Our quest will then point to finding an abandoned flying ship near our main castle. It will be in the middle of the sea, we have the option to swim, but we can do it better. Head to the crafting station, and craft a boat(x12 Forestwood Planks/ x4 Sticks/ x2 Rope/ x16 Copper Nails). Equip the boat in the shortcut menu as we did for the parts of the ship for easier access.
Installing Parts for a Flying Ship

Now, get on the water, use the shortcut key for the boat to place it on the water, and set sail towards the objective marker to find the abandoned ship. Once you are on the abandoned ship:
- Install the cockpit anywhere on the ship. It will serve as the driving wheel for the ship; wherever you place the cockpit, it will count as the front of the ship.
- After the cockpit comes the Energy Generator. Make sure it has breathable space around it for the last two installations.
- Lastly, we just have to install Wooden Engine and Wooden Balloon on both sides of the Energy Generator.
Now interact with the Energy Generator, and use Forestwood Log or Forestwood Plank as a source of energy to fuel the ship. I will recommend using logs, as they burn the slowest, giving you a steadier supply of fuel for the ship.
Note: When you are getting off the ship to explore an island, interact with the Energy Generator, and click on stop to prevent burning the logs. You will need to manually turn them on and off to save logs.
Voila, now you are done. Interact with the cockpit to fly the ship in any direction. The next step to this, of course, is then upgrading your ship in Everwind.
