Time and again, the Train Depot in Escape from Tarkov proves it has one of the most unforgiving exfil spots in the entire game. There’s no easy way out without triggering a few mines along the way.
I knew exactly what I was signing up for when I chose the Depot as my drop. But as luck would have it, I missed my only extraction window and was forced to scramble for a Plan B. One route demanded tracking down a rare map, and the other required a nerve-wracking balancing act across the train carts with mines on both sides.
To save you from the same chaos, this guide breaks down every method to exfil from the Train Depot in Escape from Tarkov.
All Ways to Escape the Train Depot in Escape from Tarkov
There are 3 main methods to leave the mine-infested Train Depot on the Woods map: either activate the secret exfil point, use the BTR taxi service, or take the riskier route. I have explained each of these below, one by one.
Leave via the BTR
The only way into the Train Depot is via the BTR, so it makes sense to use it to exfil, too. Once you are done with your tasks here, head back to the BTR before the timer ends.
While interacting with the driver, pick the option “So what can you do?”, then pick the Take a Ride option. You get to pick your next location, but it will cost you some money.
If the timer has run out and the BTR has left without you, then your only option here is to wait for other players to pull up here using the BTR, or use other extraction methods.
Activate the Railway Bridge to Tarkov Extraction Point
If you were fortunate enough to find the Minefield map during your run, check it out in your inventory. It will give you a clue on a secret exfil point near the railroad bridge.
To find the exfil point, travel along the back end of the train depot and go through the gate on the right of the shed. Follow along the side of the wall and step into the grass between the two train carts.
You will find a place to hand over the Minefield map on the last train cart before the bridge, which will activate the exfil point.
Use the Train Carts
Before you try this method, it is recommended to carry along a few splints, Surv12 kits, Grizzly kits, or, at the very least, painkillers. The riskiest and time-consuming way to exfil out of the Train Depot is to walk across the train carts to help you traverse the mine-filled area.
After loading into the Train Depot, head towards the garage and keep an eye on your left side to find a flight of metal stairs leading up. Head up and walk across the crates, leading you left to reach the roof of the office. Continue going left through the open crate until the path turns right. Follow the path to get on top of the train cart.
Now comes the tricky part. Do not lean to the left or right side of the cart and always stick to the middle, as this will trigger the mines to explode and instantly kill you. After going across the roof of the first train cart, jump down on top of the crate below and walk forward to reach the next train cart.
Use the barricades to shield yourself against the hidden sniper who lurks around the area, then quickly dash forward to the end of the cart and jump down. You will break a leg or two here, which is where your med kits will come in handy.
Other ways to minimize the damage taken are to toss your backpack to the ground below to lessen the weight. Also, if you are playing co-op, one of you could act as a safety net for the other. After one player makes the jump, the other player can jump on the player below to lessen the fall impact.
Whichever method you try, walk along the train tracks until you are past the minefield sign, then make a run towards your recommended exfil points to exit the Train Depot.
