If you are having trouble hunting down Grand Soul Gems in Oblivion Remastered, this guide will show you all the best locations to find guaranteed Grand Soul Gems. Some of them do require dirtying your hands, but most of them can be obtained lying around or as rewards to certain quests. Here is the guide listing all the easiest places to get Grand Soul Gems in Oblivion Remastered.

Best Ways To Get Grand Soul Gems In Oblivion Remastered

We have listed out the details, location, NPC, and the area to help you find the spot easily with no trouble.

    In the Basement of Drakelowe

    Drakelowe Oblivion Remastered
    • Find the Drakelowe hut near the water, south of Cheydinhal. Head inside the hut and walk up to the fireplace on your right. Interact with the ground underneath the fireplace to gain access to the basement area.
    • Head down the stairs and open the door ahead. On your left, you will find a good number of soul gems, both greater and grand, in a basket.

    Inside the Arch-Mage’s Lobby

    • Head to the Arcane University, Imperial City, walk up to the Arch-Mage’s Lobby, and interact with the door to get inside. Here you will find soul gems in a box next to the teleporter. It is highly recommended to become a member of the Mage’s Guild before heading inside and staring at the display case.
    • You will find three Grand Soul Gems inside the case. Since you are part of the Mage Guild, you can take all three without facing the law.

Note: You can always steal the Grand Soul Gem from the Arch-Mage’s lobby. Being part of the Mages Guild just gets you quick access instead of risking it all by stealing.

From the Display Case in Chorrol Mage Guild

Get to the Mage Guild of Chorrol, and get to the display case at the corner next to the stairs. There are several display cases in the room, but the specific one we are looking for is on the side of the stairs, the northwest side of the room. The display case holds only one Grand Soul Gem.

    Getting it from Dungeon Chests

It is rare, but if your character is above level 10, the game will have a 5% chance of spawning the Grand Soul Gem inside the chests in Dungeons. Again, if you go looking for the soul gem inside the dungeon, you will not have a great time hunting them. The RNG element is what makes this step a bit tedious, but you still have a 5% chance of finding the gem inside the chest.

Completing Sins of the Father Side Quest

One of the side quests in Oblivion Remastered, Sins of the Father, hands you four Grand Soul Gems upon completion. The quest features many decision-making points to get to the reward, but by completing it anyway, you will obtain four Grand Soul Gems with a unique shield. You can find more details by following the guide on the side quest.

Buying or Pickpocket Grand Soul Gem

Buying Grand Soul Gem Oblivion Remastered

Just head into any Mage Guild in Oblivion, you will find a merchant that you can barter the Grand Soul Gem in exchange of 300 Gold. If you don’t like the idea of paying money to get it, you can always wait until the merchant is alone.

You can get behind them and pickpocket the Grand Soul Gem out of their pocket into your inventory. Now it is risky, if you don’t have good enough pickpocket skills, you will mess it up every time. Here you can also save scum to get the good in a crooked way.

Merchants dealing with Magical equipment might open up the Grand Soul Gem for sale if your character level is at level 12. Not all merchants start to carry the gems in their stock, only the ones that deal with magic-related supplies.
