As part of the Dynasty Warriors Origins storyline, you will be tasked with participating in several battles against different factions. Depending on who you wish to keep as your companions, you can make a few friends as well as a few enemies. The Battle of Hulao Gate is the most anticipated battle of Chapter 2, where you need to defeat Dong Zhuo and bring your forces together for an effective win. How To Complete The Battle Of Hulao Gate In Dynasty Warriors Origins
You can start the Battle of Hulao Gate just after completing the Battle of Sishui Gate in Chapter 2. There are several objectives to clear once you reach this battle. During the fight, you will face off against Dong Zhuo’s forces. Defeating Dong Zhuo is a clear victory for you, but if Yuan Shao flees, then the battle is considered a defeat.
Best Companion For The Battle Of Hulao Gate
During the battle preparation section, you can choose one of the following companions to accompany you.
- Xiahou Dun
- Guan Yu
- Zhang Fei
- Huang Gai
You can also choose to go alone if you wish. Choosing a companion will change your starting location when you first step into battle. Choosing Guan Yu, Huang Gai, or Zhang Fei will have you set up with Sun Jian’s camp at the southeast. Xiahou Dun will align you with Cao Cao’s camp in the northeast. Choosing to go alone will start you off with Yuan Shao’s camp in the center.
Xiahou Dun or Huang Gai will be better options, as you will require Zhang Fei and Guan Yu to hold off Lu Bu. But you can also go alone to get a head start at the center of the battlefield and eliminate generals before Zhang Liao’s arrival.
Battle Of Hulao Gate Walkthrough
No matter where you begin, you need to defeat the Generals within all four bases before Zhang Liao appears. Quickly pass through whichever base is closest to your starting position and help your allies secure it. If you had started in the center by traveling alone, then defeat all the enemies before you head over to any of the nearby bases. Keep going through the bases and defeat all the targets as quickly as possible.
Battle with Zhang Liao and Jia Xu’s Large Force
Eventually, you will come face to face with Zhang Liao, who poses a huge threat to Yuan Shao. Defeat him quickly before he gets a chance to get close to Yuan Shao, after which you can move on to the next step. Your commanders will now prepare to charge at Jia Xu’s Large Force, and once all your four bases are ready, you can stand next to any of your officers to start the charge. The battle will take place in Hulao Gate, right at the middle of the map.
Battle with Lu Bu
Defeat the main generals in the area while making your way to Jia Xu. You will also get reinforcements somewhere in the middle of the battle to help you out. After defeating Jia Xu, you will now encounter Lu Bu’s group coming right at you. Lu Bu’s fight here is optional, as you don’t need to defeat him. During the middle of the fight, Lu Bu will eventually be ordered by Dong Zhuo to seek out Yuan Shao, after which Lu Bu will leave. Rather than pursuing him, seek out Dong Zhuo to stop him. Liu Bei, Zhang Fei, and Guan Yu will work together in the meantime to ward off Lu Bu, so you don’t have to worry about him for now. Once Cao Cao leaves to find Dong Zhuo, follow him to the next area. Charge at Dong Zhuo’s greatshields to break the barrier and gain access. There are a couple of catapults at the back, so stay back with your allies to destroy some of them.
Battle with Diaochan and Dong Zhuo
Before you can even reach Dong Zhuo, you will meet Diaochan. She will specifically target you for a duel, so you need to battle her first. Once she is defeated, you can finally meet Dong Zhuo for the final battle. If you feel unprepared, you can always increase your Morale and gather more Guards by defeating the camps at the north or south. You can also collect Meat Buns here to replenish your health.
Once you are ready, wear him down till you are able to apply Assault to lower his health. Most of Dong Zhuo’s attacks are easy to deal with, except for his charge attack. Since his attacks are slow and predictable, you can quickly dispatch your best moves and defeat him, thus ending the Battle of Hulao Gate. Completing the battle will reward you with Skill Points and Weapon Proficiency.
