If you thought fighting games couldn’t get more complicated, playing Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero will change your mind after its hour-long tutorial. With so many gameplay mechanics to understand, it’s natural that you will go over some of them without properly understanding how they work. So let’s take an in-depth look at some of the advanced mechanics like Vanish, Transform, and Tag in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

How To Use Vanish In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

To use a Vanish attack in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, press Square + Cross for the PlayStation DualSense controller or X + A for the Xbox controller. However, using Vanish consumes one bar of your Ki gauge, so you need at least one to perform it.

Since it consumes a bar of your Ki gauge, it can be very punishing to spam this or to use this when the opponent can easily predict it. One smart way to go about this is to keep an eye on your opponent’s Ki gauge as well and capitalize on it by using Vanish when their Ki gauge is lower than yours.

How To Tag And Switch Characters In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

    tag dragon ball sparking zero

To tag your other characters in your team in Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, press and hold the left button on the D-pad and press the corresponding button of the teammate you want to tag and switch to.

However, you can only tag your other teammates if the yellow icon beside the Skill count is completely filled up. This icon officiates the cooldown for your tags and it’s in place to prevent players from constantly switching back and forth between multiple characters on a team.

As soon as you tag in another character, this icon will go down to zero and start filling up again. So performing a tag in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero can be a risk-reward type of mechanic because you can be severely punished for an untimely tag or if you tag to a character you didn’t intend to, possibly one already low on health.

Another way to tag in another teammate is to use Chase Change, which allows you to tag in while in the middle of the combo. This keeps the pressure going on your opponent while simultaneously letting you tag to another character.

How To Transform In Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero

To transform in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, hold the up button on your D-pad and then press the corresponding button to the character you want to transform into. Based on the what kind of transform you are attempting, it will require one or more Skill points which are indicated by the number below your Ki gauge. You can learn more about it by reading our full guide on how to do transformations and fusions in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.
