Dragon Ball Sparking Zero: How To Deflect Super Beam Blasts

Fights in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero can get pretty intense and require a lot of skill. The Great Ape Vegeta fight is already sparking memes due to how difficult it is and how beat-up players feel after the fight. This is because certain mechanics like deflecting super beam blasts in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero can be really tough to master. Here is how you can learn to deflect super beam blasts and dominate your games.

How To Deflect Super Beam Blasts In Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

Triangle + Circle or Y + B to deflect Super Beam Blasts

To deflect a Beam Blast with the Classic Layout controls, you need to enter Super Perception mode by pressing the Triangle + Circle buttons for PlayStation or the Y + B buttons on the Xbox in timing with the incoming attack.

For players playing on the Standard Layout controls, you will only need to Hold Circle/B to enter Super Perception and then press it again to deflect the Super Beam Blast in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

Additionally, deflecting Super Beam Blasts rather than dodging it requires two Skill points. You can either time the deflect button presses perfectly with the attack or hold Circle/B to enter Super Perception and then press Triangle/Y in timing with the incoming Super Beam Blast.

However, entering Super Perception will gradually drain your Ki until you are out of Ki or if you come out of Super Perception yourself. So while it can be hard to time it perfectly with the Beam Blast, you should learn the timing rather than pre-activating Super Perception and draining your Ki. You also won’t need to charge up and accumulate Ki in the first place if you understand the timing.

Remember that you cannot use this to deflect Ultimate Beam Blasts as those are not deflectable like Goku’s Spirit Bomb. Alternatively, you can also use a High-Speed Evasion to dodge the Beam Blast if you want to save your Skill points but that is not always possible.

It might sound easy but the timing is key for this. On top of that, deflecting a Super Beam Blast in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero costs Skill points which are also used for transformations and fusions so you will lose this advantage and will have to regain your Skill points all over again. This makes deflecting a risk-reward mechanic as it can change the tables in an intense fight.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, from developers Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco has received a promising early response to its launch, with the game standing at a Generally Favorable status with a score of 82 on Metacritic. The game also crossed a 100k active player count on Steam purely on the strength of early access copies, and with the actual launch happening today, these numbers are for sure to go much higher.
