In Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, you get to meet your favorite characters and fight different, challenging enemies across various episodes. With each mission under each character, you have a set of challenges to clear to unlock the next stage or get alternate routes. Very early in the game, while playing as Goku, you are tasked with the first mission: Arrival on Planet Namek.

For this mission, you get the chance to fight two unique enemies called forth by the Emperor of the Universe, Frieza. In this guide, we have put up all the details to help you get through the Arrival on Planet Namek mission routes in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.

Your first order of business is to defeat the Ginyu Force summoned by Frieza. This involves beating Jeice which happens as part of the normal story progression. However, how you battle Jeice decides whether you unlock a fight with Burter. Let’s look at both the options on this.

Side Route: Defeating Jeice Without Making Burter Appear

While this is the easier route, it is considered an alternate one as per canon. If you complete the fight without deflecting the Crusher balls that Jeice hurls at you, Burter will back off and you won’t have to face him in battle.

    Main Route: Battle Burter

If you choose to deflect Jeice’s Crusher balls, then Burter will jump into the battle. Or, you could change the mode to Easy, and have the fight with Burter. This is the route that is true to canon and lore, and hence is considered the Main Route.

Some players do claim that not deflecting the Crusher balls as per the main objective also gives the alternate ending, so you might have to try both ways to see if it unlocks Burter.  We tried it both ways, and for us it panned out exactly as we put up above.

However, what you can do is fight Jeice without deflecting the Crusher balls. If you don’t get the alternate route this way, then restart the fight and try to get Jeice to launch the Crusher balls at you. Wait for the Crusher ball to approach you to deflect. After the fight ends, wait for the unique cutscene where Burter will enter the battlefield.

With this, you can unlock the alternate routes for Arrival on Planet Namek in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.
