Ever wondered about a new storyline of Dragon Ball Z in the fashion of What If? Then you don’t have to imagine anymore, as the new Dragon Ball Sparking Zero gives you the What If experience in the Dragon Ball world. If you have played the older Budokai games, you are probably used to seeing the same old story with a different type of paint. But Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero takes the story in many interesting ways by providing Branching paths to the main storyline. This guide will take you through Gohan’s Branching Paths in Dragon Ball Sparking Zero.
How To Reach The Branching Path In Gohan’s Story In Sparking Zero
In Chapter 5, you will have to beat Frieza and his goons without losing too much health to start the branching path of Gohan. If you lose too much health, the story will change, and it will switch back to the original storyline that we already know from the show.
You will know that you missed your train with Gohan’s Branching storyline, the second Goku shows up to help Gohan as usual. If Goku has taken a backseat to the battle, then the battle will be all about Gohan and Frieza. Then you are on the proper path. Here we will start the the new story pathway for Gohan.
Sparking Zero starts with Adult Gohan rather than kicking off the series with the Raditz Saga like in many Dragon Ball entries before. Don’t worry, you will not miss out on any of the highlights of the child Gohan scenes in DB Sparking Zero, the game does an excellent job of balancing the scenes out. But expect to see Adult Gohan a lot more than a little one running around Nimbus.
Story Change #1 Episode Goku’s Son
The battle between Gohan and Frieza will continue but now with a different twist.
The first story change will happen during the mission of Goku’s Son, after Frieza witnesses the true power of Gohan, he will have no choice but to transform into a more powerful form. You will have to defeat Frieza here again to continue our Sparking pathway.
Reward: Zeni x1000, x50 XP
Story Change #2 Episode Frieza’s Determination
Defeating Frieza twice will finally anger him enough to turn to his highest power. Don’t worry it’s not going to take five episodes for him to transfer to his final form, Golden Frieza.
This is the part of Gohan’s Sparking storyline where it completely diverts from the canon sequence. Where Gohan fails to defeat Golden Frieza, but now since we are in a video game, we can defeat the Golden Frieza as well. Once you take Golden Frieza out of the picture, a new cutscene will trigger with a brand new character Gohan Black.
After realizing the threat of Gohan Black, Gohan, and his friends will escape from Gohan Black to figure out a way to defeat him.
Reward: Zeni x1000, x50 XP
Story Change #3 Episode Gohan’s Growth
Here history repeats again, as Piccolo once again takes the right of real fatherhood from Goku to train Gohan to get strong enough to defeat Gohan Black, by teaching him a new ability titled Evil Containment Wave attack.
This episode doesn’t feature any fight, you will see a cutscene of Gohan training to battle Gohan Black.
Reward: Zeni x1000, x50 XP
Story Change #4 Episode Gohan Black and Gohan
Here the final battle goes down between Gohan and Gohan Black. But you don’t have to defeat him, just getting the health bar lowered will finish off the fight.
It will trigger a cutscene showing Gohan Black’s real identity, Zamasu from a different timeline. The battle against Gohan continues to the next episode, as Zamasu fuses with Gohan Black (non-immortal).
Reward: Zeni x1000, x50 XP
Story Change #4 The Future Entrusted
The objective here again is to lower the health bar of Zamasu to finish the fight in the episode. It ain’t going to be easy, Goku also joins in the battle, and you will get to witness the classic father-son Kamehameha moment again but it fails to do anything against Zamasu.
Reward: Zeni x1000, x50 XP
Story Change #5 The Strongest Warrior
Finally, Trunk shows up at the very last minute to assist Gohan. Here we will see Gohan trying out the move Evil Containment Wave attack from Piccolo to take down Zamasu once and for all. Both Trunk and Gohan finally trap Zamasu, and Gohan later goes on to become the strongest warrior.
Reward: Zeni x1000, x50 XP
Achievement Unlock: By completing The Strongest Warrior chapter, you will unlock The Strongest Warrior trophy or achievement as well.
