The final decision of the game will come down to whether you want to spare or kill Shroud. This decision of sparing or killing Shroud will come after Robert hands over the Astral Pulse. So here we are, going to look at both choices and their consequences at the end of episode 8 of Dispatch.
Ending #1: Spare Shroud

If you choose the option to Spare Shroud, Shroud will then get captured. The decision will come right at the end of the Shroud decides to shoot down Robert, but Invisigal will take the bullet instead. Then, after the scene is over, you will see Chase doing an interview with the local press. The interviewer will ask Chase to name the SDN officer who captured Shroud. Here, Chase will admit the story of the SDN officer capturing Shroud is true, but will not reveal the name of the SDN officer to the press.
Consequences: Shroud lives, but the press is unaware of the SDN officer holding Shroud. Chase will not be disappointed with this decision.
Achievement Unlock: Succeeded as a Mentor: Have positive trust with Invisigal, so she will not kill Shroud at the end of the episode.
Achievement Unlock: Chose the Path of Mercy: Unlocking this achievement requires sparing Shroud instead of killing him.
Ending #2: Kill Shroud
If you decide to kill Shroud, the rest of the scene will play out mostly the same, but with a tiny difference right at the end. Here, once Chase gets interviewed, he will be a bit disappointed with a sad face, thinking about the death. While he will follow this up with saying that Shroud deserved to die, he will not confirm who took down the Shroud.
Note: Chase’s disappointment could be because in the previous episode, I did mention to Chase not to kill Shroud at the end. Maybe breaking that promise might have something to do with his reaction.
Then later, we see Robert talking to Blonde Blazer or Mandy lying on the truck of a car, and she will ask Robert whether he feels better after taking down Shroud. The choices here are:
- Nope.
- It felt great.
- I dunno.
You can choose any one of these, and the choices will be remembered by Blonde Blazer or Mandy. The choices here reflect whether Robert is satisfied after killing the bad guy or not. Pick the choice that suits your playstyle and your vendetta against Shroud.
Consequences
Shroud is dead, but the press won’t know about the murder. Chase will not confirm or deny the fact about Shroud’s death to the press.
Achievement Unlock: Chose the Path of Vengeance: You will get this one after killing Shroud.
Ending #3: Invisigal Kills Shroud

This happens if you have a negative relationship with Invisigal. The game will roll at the same pace, but you will see a tiny difference at the end. If you have been putting away Invisigal and not trusting her in the previous episode, you will see the changes right at the end of episode 8. Here you will not get the option to Spare or Kill Shroud, instead Invisigal will kill Shroud by herself.
Achievement Unlock: Failed as a Mentor. Robert has failed as a mentor to guide Invisigal. The betrayal finally led Invisigal to kill Shroud.
The choice of Blonde Blazer asking about Shroud’s death will not be present if you decide to spare him. The decision comes down to the player. If you are playing a pacifist role, then sparing Shroud makes sense, as throughout the entire game, you will get options of sparing certain people rather than firing or killing them.
But if you are playing a non-pacifist hardboiled man on duty, then killing Shroud and taking him out of the picture fits perfectly into the scene. Neither choices reveal Robert’s identity to the press. The Z-Team will have your back, whether you decide to murder or spare him right at the end of Dispatch episode 8.
