Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core has a steep learning curve and can be overwhelming for new players. The game eventually settles into a nice rhythm, but it can take a while to reach this point, and not every aspect of the gameplay may appeal to you. You may wish to add or remove certain aspects, and this is where mods come in.
Some of the best mods in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core allow you to tailor the experience to your liking, remove some of the busywork, and make some helpful changes that can improve the experience. Of course, the un-modded Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core is still a fun experience, but each of the following mods made our space mining adventure a little easier.
Increased Mission Timer
This mod increased our Mission Time by 45%, which is a significant amount of extra time to complete objectives and ensure we’ve done everything we need to. This isn’t a mod for those who want the unfiltered Rogue Core experience, but for those playing casually who want a more relaxing time, this is the perfect mod. Sure, this removes some of the urgency from the adventure, but if all players agree, or you’re playing solo, who cares?

Map Wide Negotiation
The Map Wide Negotiation mod expands the upgrade negotiation trigger radius, so players no longer need to physically gather together inside the visible circle to start upgrade selection. It is designed for co-op runs where players are spread across the map and want to keep gathering resources without everyone needing to gather together for every upgrade.
The host player needs to have the mod active, but it will then apply to all co-op partners. This mod is incredibly helpful for maximizing time and letting players get on with their tasks without all needing to regroup each time upgrades are needed. In our view, this should have been in the game without a mod, but having it certainly enhanced the experience for us.
Full Map Illumination
This one does exactly what it suggests: it illuminates the entire map so players can navigate around and see exactly where they’re going. Not only does it increase the brightness of the caves you’ll be mining, but it also helps players plan their expeditions and target the resources they need with less trial and error. We confess it removes some of the random and unexpected fun of the game, but it’s a helpful mod nonetheless.

Enemy Spawn Multiplier
This one is pretty self-explanatory, but multiplying enemy spawns is a great way to farm more drops from the enemies you’re killing. Just be aware that more enemies means more danger, but if you’re up to the challenge and ready to snag extra resources, this is a killer mod. Just know things can go south quickly if you’re not prepared to deal with the increased enemies.
Enemy Counter
Not unlike the previous mod, this one allows you to customize the maximum enemy spawn limit, but in a way that gives you control of how many there are. But crucially, it also adds a simple HUD that lets you track the enemy count in the scene in real time. This allows players to keep track not just of enemies, but of how many enemies are useful at that time.

Always Sprint
Want to eliminate walking and just sprint everywhere? This is the perfect mod for that. You’ll no longer have a distinction between the two. If the extra input to run doesn’t bother you, then you can ignore this mod. But if you’d rather remove it, then this will be a helpful change.
Quick Reload
The reload animation can get tiresome in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, especially when you consider how many times you’re going to need to watch it. This helpful mod allows you to interrupt the animation, but still have your weapon fully reloaded. We never realized how much we needed this.
Temporary Difficulty Customization
This mod provides options to control game difficulty, such as controlling your ammo and health regeneration over time and overall enemy stat settings. If you need a breather from enemies, this is helpful, but it also means you can survive those tough moments and not worry about death or loss of resources. Like many mods, this one risks making the game too easy, but it’s also great to have this level of control.
