Code Vein 2 – How to Activate Josee’s Fading Bond

Code Vein 2 has a lot more going on compared to its predecessor, often resulting in getting lost and unsure of how to progress. While the game will place waypoint markers on the map for various quests, there are times when you will need a specific item or complete a certain action in order to proceed.

For example, Fading Bonds are a category of side quests that involve players using a bond to visit the past and help a partner to complete their mission. However, in order to access each Fading Bond, players must find a specific item in the world.

Players will unlock a handful of Fading Bonds throughout their journey in the game, but the first one to appear is Josee’s. Read further to learn how to activate Josee’s Fading Bond in Code Vein 2.

You need ‘Lise’s Hair Ornament’ to activate Josee’s Fading Bond. You get this item after completing Holly’s quest in the Undead Forest. This particular Fading Bond appears after beating Josee The Blind Hero boss during “Slaying the Hero Josee” main quest.

Once the bond appears, Lou will mention that you can’t access it yet since the connection between you and the Fading Bond is too weak. Lou mentions that to strengthen the connection, you need a specific item – which is the Hair Ornament.

Many players will spend time searching the surrounding area for this specific item. However, this is just a waste of time since Lise’s Hair Ornament doesn’t become available until later in the game.

Holly’s quest is part of the main quest “Requests from a Friend: Iris,” where Iris sends you to defeat Revenants in different regions. For the sake of accessing Josee’s Fading Bond, you want to go meet Holly at the Plague Village in the Undead Forest (shown in the map below) and complete her entire questline.

Once you finish with Holly and defeat the main boss of her questline, Hero Holly, Lise’s Hair Ornament will appear on the reception desk in the Sanatorium. Pick it up and return to Josee’s Fading Bond in Josee’s Outpost to interact with it and finally get the chance to enter.

Entering Josee’s Fading Bond in Code Vein 2 will allow you to continue your journey with Josee and help her complete her mission in the past timeline. This will lead to many enemy encounters, boss fights, items and weapons to find, and an interesting storyline to follow.
