While climbing up Mount Kami in Cairn, it becomes pretty clear that the job is meant for those who are incredibly dedicated to the climb. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a few stragglers left behind. There are a ton of scraps and messages around that have to mean something.
You’ll eventually come across Marco, who helps make things a little less lonely, despite how Aava might feel about him. However, you’ll also encounter Sheppardese. I mean, someone has to be caring for all those goats you’re finding, right?
It seems as though the Sheppardese doesn’t really want to be found, especially considering where she’s actually located on the mountain. She’s pretty easy to miss. It’s a good thing I was able to sniff her out.
Where is the Sheppardese?

The Sheppardese is so very easy to miss, especially if you’ve already started your ascent of Mount Kami after locating the map that shows you where all the Troglodyte Doll pieces are. To put things into perspective, check out the above image on the left.
Aava is facing the cliff edge you first climb up on when you reach this area. Notice how there is an arrow pointing toward the direction of Troglodyte Doll II and III. This is the route you likely took when you were first in this area. However, if you take a moment to look to the left, where Aava is standing above, you’ll immediately notice a cliff edge with a lawn chair and umbrella perched up.
Who could possibly be living there? Spoiler: it’s the Sheppardese. For a little it more context, the route above is the one taken to reach this particular area because just above the cave opening is where you can find Troglodyte Doll I.
What Do You Do With the Sheppardese?

After making your way through the cave opening and saying “Hello” to all of the goats you find, you’ll come across a green-lit clearing with a haphazardly built shack and a small vegetable garden. As you approach, a woman with long pink-red hair will appear, asking Aava about the people she might have come across on the mountain.
After a quick cutscene, you come to realize that the Sheppardese is likely going to just stay in her cave, tending to her goats. You can leave, but I’d urge you to double back and talk to her one last time before heading out.
If you do, you’ll be prompted to hand her Rody’s letter, which was picked up much earlier in the game. In doing so, the Sheppardese will thank you and give you a Thermos.
What Does the Thermos Do?

In Cairn, you’ll find things on your journey that end up helping you a lot more than you thought possible. The Thermos is one such item, allowing the hot items that you cook at camp to be left warm for longer.
What’s really interesting is that the Thermos isn’t a permanent object, and can actually be recycled and turned into chalk if you so wanted it to be. However, it isn’t considered to be trash the way that blastic bottles and bags you find are. You’re quite literally able to use it for an additional liquid storage on top of your Clear Water bottles.
So, if you decide to get rid of it, you’d just be recycling because you want to, not because it actually does anything. Do yourself a favor and try not to do that. You’ll realize soon enough how much water you really need to climb Mount Kami.
