Cairn: How To Find & Use The Lynx Origami

While most of the items that you find in Cairn have a function, there are a few that have more narrative focuses or miscellaneous purposes. This might be setting off some fireworks or finding a strange frog and giving it a lick.

However, one of the most affecting little keepsakes in Cairn is the Origami that you find along the way. But it’s a little tricky to find, and the game never quite tells you why it’s worth keeping in your jam-packed bag.

So, here’s where to find this little paper beauty, and where their forever home will be.

Where To Find The Lynx Origami

The origami in Cairn is located in a secret game during the climb during the portion of the game known as ‘The Peril’.

This, for those less chapter title aware, is the part of the game where Aava breaks off the antenna on her Climb bot after hearing a message she can’t quite process.

While climbing this tough and seemingly never ending cliff face, you’ll want to climb to the right, where you will eventually come to a ridiculous overhang that Aava could never conquer. But, this is because she’s not meant to, as this hides a little cave opening you need to check out.

Make the climb up there, and inside this little cave, you’ll find a dead climber, along with the little Origami Lynx that you can stuff in your pack. Once you have, you can keep climbing as normal, as you won’t need to think about this little trinket for quite some time.

What To Do With The Origami

Provided you haven’t sacrificed the little paper ornament to make some space in your bag, you’ll have the chance to earn the In Memoriam trophy when you reach The Blades.

This is the portion of the game where you find Marco after he goes missing, and you meet the famous climber of your era, Damas Al Fatri.

You’ll be shown a lot of harrowing things during the cutscenes in this area, but by far, the most affecting is the backpack graveyard. When you wake up, you’ll want to head there.

About halfway up this room on the right, you’ll be able to take your Origami and set it among the belongings of the fallen, giving the Origami of the fallen climber a spot among its peers, and earning you a rare achievement.

He loves nothing more than finding an unearthed early-access title and seeing what they have to offer. Plus, he’s even got a tattoo of The Traveller from Journey and a Junimo, so you know that love for indies is legit! Callum has been around the block within the gaming industry, working as an Editor-in-chief for a number of well-respected gaming outlets; he has worked as a games tester, he has gaming podcast experience, and he has worked in gaming PR. Basically, you name it, and Callum was probably there or somewhere on the periphery. Outside of gaming, Callum loves skateboarding despite his immediate family telling him to grow up, and he is also known to watch the British sitcom Peep Show on repeat and will go toe-to-toe with anyone on Peep Show trivia.
