Dragon Quest 3 Remake takes you back to the original Dragon Quest 3 game. You have to complete quests and find rare items during your exploration of the overworld. There is a lot more to be done like picking up vocations and forming the best party for your playstyle. Besides all this, you will also encounter rare treasure chests while exploring different locations. But this can be a rare occurrence, and you are likely to miss locations where treasure chests do spawn.
Luckily, there are abilities to help guide your character and party in the right direction. With these skills, you are sure to find treasure chests nearby and help you collect rare loot. And that is exactly what we have put up in this guide: the best skills to find treasure in Dragon Quest III HD – 2D Remake.
Best Vocation & Skills For Treasure Hunting In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
The Thief vocation is the best vocation to help you locate Treasure Chests, as there are two main skills that you can use here. Namely, you can unlock and use the Nose for Treasure and Snoop skills to find treasure. Nose for Treasure unlocks at level 12 or level 13, while Snoop unlocks at level 20 or level 21. Just keep playing the game to unlock these Thief skills to use them.
How Does Nose For Treasure Work In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
After activating the Nose for Treasure skill, you get a notification of all treasures available within that particular level of any building, dungeon, or floor. If you are exploring a settlement, using this skill will pinpoint all available treasures within that settlement’s open-world area. However, entering any building or exiting the settlement will remove the ability, and reapplying the skill will show you treasures hidden in the building or within the new area.
The same applies while exploring towers or dungeons. You need to recast Nose for Treasure if you are exploring a new floor or level. To check all the treasure chest locations, after casting the skill, check your map to know the number of treasure chests available in that area. If you have collected them all, recasting the skill will have no effect. But since Nose for Treasure is free, you can use it as many times as you want.
How Does Snoop Work In Dragon Quest 3 Remake
Later on, after you unlock the Snoop skill, you can have a more focused treasure-hunting experience. While the area that Snoop covers may not be as large as Nose for Treasure, you can still pick up small treasure details after activating this ability. Snoop only works within your nearby vicinity, and activating the skill will pinpoint an item or area nearby that has a potential treasure. There will be a sparkle and an audio cue to indicate the treasure’s location, and you can also check your mini-map to locate it.
But this effect is temporary, so you have to pick up quickly or reactivate this skill to find it again. Similar to Nose for Treasure, you have to recast Snoop if you visit a new location or go outside or indoors. Snoop is also a bit expensive, as it requires 2 MP to use it.
There are some other ways to collect treasure, and that is if you have special keys to unlock all doors in the game. We have a guide that can show you where you can collect all three keys in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, and you can check that out if you feel stuck.
