Players in Space Marine 2 have the option to go full-on medieval by switching to the Bulwark class. If you want to take the fight as close as possible to the enemy, then Bulwark is the class that will quench your thirst. Besides being the best at melee, the class also offers huge defense stats. Making it perfect for tank gameplay, the armor, and shield are not just for appearance they do withstand a lot of damage. In this guide we present what we think is the ultimate Bulwark build in Space Marine 2.
Space Marine 2 Bulwark Class Overview
Being a tank on a team comes with a lot of responsibilities, not only do you have to withstand a lot of damage but you will also need gear to fend off enemies from the team on the back. A bad tank will always get a bad rep from other players, I think we’ve all been there. To be best at tanking and keeping in touch with aggressiveness, we will have to pick the right gear for the job.
- Armor Class: 3
- Class Perk: Chapter Banner
- Class Perk Description: AOE restoration of Armour to all the Squad members in the area.
- PvE or PvP: High PvE and good PvP
- Starting Perk: Health is increased by 20%
Space Marine 2 Best Bulwark Class Perks
Perks | Description |
Defensive Mastery | A Perfect parry leaves Majories or Extremis level enemy incapacitated, the cooldown here lasts for 120 seconds. |
Rejuvenating Effect | When the banner is placed, it can revive all the incapacitated squad members within the effective area. |
Invigorating Icon | All squad members regain contested health when the banner is activated |
Focused Strength | Sheild Bash can knock the enemies back and stagger them for a long period |
Advanced Conditioning | Contested health stays longer, and fades 50% slowly for the squad members |
Armour Reinforcement | Non-finisher Gun strikes can now restore armor |
Scrambled Targeting | 20% less damage from ranged attacks if surrounded by 5 or more enemies. |
Forward Momentum | Melee damage increases by 25% for 5 seconds after a Shield Bash |
The late-game build for Bulwark will be perfect, it’s everything you hope to achieve in a tank. The highlight here is the Armour Reinforcement ability, a non-finisher gun strike will help you restore 1 armor. Another stealer here is Invigorating Icon, it will help restore health in all the team members.
Best Alternatives:
Glory’s Shield Gear Perk, another great add-on, helps the squad members take 10% less damage within the banner AOE. When you are playing on higher difficulty or new players, this ability will help out a lot. Another great alternative perk will be Shock and Awe, enemies in the shock status will take 25% more damage than usual. This will come in handy and would go well with Defensive Advantage (Perfect parry leads to shock area) and Emergency Countermeasure (Armor Depletion leads to Automatic Shock Grenade detonation).
Space Marine 2 Best Bulwark Weapons
Since there are no primary weapons slots for the Bulwark class, you only have a secondary and a melee weapon. Luckily, the game gives you one of the best pistols and melee weapons for this class. If you saw the perks under the class section, then you know we are going all in for the melee. Every Bulwark build spotlights the melee damage over any other. We will list out the best weapon selection for the Bulwark class.
Primary weapons: Not Available
Secondary weapons: Plasma Pistol
Melee weapons: Power Sword
Best Plasma Pistol Perks
Plasma Pistol is a must, when you are looking for what kind, we recommend you to pick Ophelian Liberation, unlike in other classes, the gun stays in the back. The ammo here is limited but the damage the pistol packs will be enough. Since Bulwark goes all for the melee, the Secondary weapon is saved for extreme cases such as Boss enemies or Extremis monsters. If the sword fails, then you pull out the Plasma Pistol to finish the job.
- Fast Venting: Weapons Cooldown 15% faster rate.
- Rampage: 25% more damage for 5 seconds after killing 10 enemies in a row (Cooldown 30 seconds).
- Plasma Collection: 20% Energy Reserve Boost for Plasma Weapons.
- Great Might: Increase damage by 10% against Terminus enemies.
- Supercharged Shot: Increasing the damage from changed shot by 10%.
- Efficient Charge: The Charge Shot consumes less energy by 2 bars.
- Perpetual Velocity: Shot Charges a 20% faster rate.
- Rapid Cooling: Killing 10 enemies in a row eliminates overheating for 5 seconds.
When it comes to perks there are too many good perks to choose from. But we will recommend putting more emphasis on Fast Venting, Rampage, Supercharged Spot, Great Might, Plasma Collection, and Retaliation. Focus on the damage than anything here, since you will be using the pistol only in dire cases.
Best Power Sword Perks
Gathalamor Crusade Power Sword is one of the best options for Bulwark because of Fencing (Parry windows are higher with this sword). Bulwarks are known to have a hard time parrying off enemies, so grabbing Gathalamor will be a perfect fit, increase in the parry window with the 11 Strength with 7 Speed will be enough.
- Armored Strength: Melee damage rises to 10% with full armor.
- Master of Offence: 20% Melee damage for 5 seconds after switching combat style.
- Perpetual strength: Melee damage increased to 5%.
- Slashing Blade: Increases the power style combat to 4 strikes (base 3).
- Hard Target: 15% less Ranged damage while doing a light combo.
- Tranquility: Power Whirl stance makes you immune to knockbacks from heavy hits.
- Tyranid Slayer: 10% damage increase to Tyranid enemies.
- Chaos Slayer: 10% damage increase to Chaos enemies.
We recommend you put perks that raise the damage dealing ability and aggressive combos in both light and heavy stances. Power Sword will go well with the Shield to recreate the medieval fantasy, but there is another alternative melee weapon for the Bulwark class.
Power Fist is also another favorite amongst fans of the Bulwark class. Aggamedes’s Gift Beta is one of the Power Fists that helps you a lot in parrying. Compared to all the other Power Fist weapons, Aggamede’s Gift carries the fastest speed. But the first thing you should pay attention to is the parry window. Just like our Power Sword, the alternate Power Fist also follows the pattern of giving forgivable parryable windows.
Combine the Plasma Pistol with Power Sword or Power Fist, you have an incredible amount of damage dealing and defense stats for yourself and the squad members.
