Avowed has plenty of surprises as you head further into the later sections of the game. You get a chance to upgrade some of your weapons using a certain material that is scattered across the many regions. There are secret Starmetal items that are found in each region, and you can collect them and hand them over to a blacksmith to collect some superior grade weapons. This guide will cover where you can collect all 4 Starmetal Fragments in Avowed.

As part of this quest, you need to locate 4 unique Starmetal Fragments to help you upgrade two unique weapons. The first time you encounter a Starmetal will trigger this unique quest, and you can then bring this peculiar item back to Forgemaster Dela. Head over to Solace Keep to find him and exchange the Starmetal for either the Moonstrike unique arquebus or Meteor Blade sword.

Collecting all Starmetal Fragments will help you purchase both weapons anyways, so you are not missing out on picking one or the other. Below are the locations you need to investigate to get all Starmetal Fragments for the quest.

Starmetal Fragment Location #1 – Dawnshore

Make your way to the eastern section of the map, towards Southern Embrace and heading towards the Emerald Stair Gatehouse Beacon. From the beacon, head southwest to find an archway, head through the archway to find the first Starmetal Fragment on the table.

Head over to Rolling Crags Party Camp in Damp Burrow, Rolling Crags. Just south of the camp you can find a burrow beside the lake. Head down there and you will spot the Starmetal Fragment on your right.

For the next one, head over to Thirdborn Party Camp north of Thirdborn. From there, you need to head over to the Abandoned Mine to the west. From the campsite, head west while hugging the mountain walls on your right. You will come across some rocky platforms that will help you climb up the mountain and it will lead you to a cave entrance.

Once you are inside, head up the platform on the left and jump up to the entrance on the left side upper section. Follow the path and it will lead you to the top of the mine. Take the path to your right and continue to go up, then jump across the gap on your left. Follow this path and it will lead you to the third Starmetal Fragment.

    Starmetal Fragment Location #4 – Galawain’s Tusks

For the final Starmetal Fragment, head west towards the Ash Forest beacon. The location you need to go to is where you need to find Destul as part of one of the bounty quests. While trying to reach Destul’s lair, you will encounter a pit on the floor that contains the last Starmetal Fragment.

As mentioned above, you need to locate a particular vendor to get your unique weapons. Head over to Solace Keep in Galawain’s Tusks, which will be a marked location as part of the Forged of Star-Stuff quest. Find Forgemaster Dela and hand over your Starmetal Fragments to get the Moonstrike or Meteor Blade. But there is a catch here.

Depending on the current rarity of your weapons, you will receive the same rarity weapons from Forgemaster Dela. So, if you have common quality weapons, then you will receive the same kind from the vendor. To attain the legendary versions of the Moonstrike and Meteor Blade, upgrade all your weapons to legendary before you talk to Dela. This will save you a ton of materials when you wish to upgrade these weapons later on.

Next, you can further refine the Moonstrike and Meteor Blade to get new weapons. Hand over your remaining Starmetal Fragment to get Ondra’s Offense from the Meteor Blade, and Heavenstrike from the Moonstrike. Both of these weapons carry better stats than their counterparts, so you should take your time and invest in getting these two weapons for your late game adventures.
