You will come across four Blacksmith Crafting Tomes; getting them is crucial to level up your gear, which includes both weapon and defensive sets. Every time you find one, you will see it appear on the screen as a form of notification. The game also refers to the Blacksmith Crafting Tome as Forgebooks. Blacksmith Crafting Tome #1 | Acasa Marshes
When you rescue Victor Gaz from the Maintenance Room at the burning tunnel (check our guide here if you need help with the Vitalis Home Puzzle code), he will hand you the keys to Vitalis House. He will give us a clue that Vitalis’ house is located in the northeastern part of Jova with a blue swing in the tree next to the house. The house can easily be found as it is located across the Blacksmith’s store.
Make your way to the Village of Jova and pick up the car keys found on the porch of Vitalis’ house. Head to the Marshlands, cross the wooden bridge located right of the locked base. Here you will see a car half-submerged in the water just off to the side of the hangman’s tree. That’s the car that belongs to Vitalis.
Here, use Vitalis’s car keys to open the trunk of the car, and you will find your first Blacksmith Crafting Tome. You will also find a twin axe, a glyph, and a necklace that you hand to Victor for a quest “Good Deed”.
Blacksmith Crafting Tome #2 | Boss Battle
Requirement: Defeating the boss
You need to make progress in the campaign until you beat The Hammer of Modus and the Keystone of Grief boss fight. Here, you can loot the Sarcophagus to get a Blacksmith Crafting Tome, Amine Prism: Sigma, Aster’s Band of Domination, and Hammer of Modus (Quest item).
Blacksmith Crafting Tome #3 | Arcas Spire
After solving the puzzle at Arcas Spire, you will face the Keystone of Terror boss fight. After getting out of the puzzle chamber, you must walk to the top of the tower. Here you will find the fourth Blacksmith Crafting Tome next to the grand staircase. You can’t miss this one, as it is located right next to the save point.
Blacksmith Crafting Tome #4 | Auriga Museum
Requirement: Tied to the Keystone of Terror quest.
Once you reach Act 2 of the game, you will get a quest about shutting down a giant Timeloop. After successfully turning off the Timeloop, you will get a Keystone of Rage. Now all you have to do is get down the ladder and take the elevator to the surface. The path will directly lead you to a storage area, and you will find the Blacksmith Crafting Tome and Clearance Delta Keycard inside.
What to do with Blacksmith Crafting Tomes?
Once you obtain a single one of these tomes, head to the Village of Jova in Acasa Marshes and interact with Victor Gaz. Here, select Craft, then head to the Study option. That’s it, now you will unlock all the upgrade functions and wares.
Here you can upgrade your weapon by adding Lymbic Spheres to it. There are four different types of Lymbic Spheres: Rage/ Ecstasy/ Grief/ Terror. But the only way to upgrade Victor’s smithing ability is by giving him the Blacksmith Crafting Tomes or Forgebooks.
When you are surviving in the world of Hell Is Us, don’t neglect your defensive items. After unlocking the Blacksmith, focus on upgrading your defence capabilities and always upgrade your weapon to increase your chance of survival.
