As you enter chapter two of Final Fantasy Resonance, you’ll have a new party member among your ranks, as well as the newfound ability to recruit Espers to join your cause to take down the Sworn Six.
These are the seeds that blossom into an optional fight against Ramuh, an Esper that calls Thunderclap Mountain their home.
It’s not an easy fight, especially if you choose to take it on right away. However, the potential reward a new Esper is more than enough motivation to take on this thunder god right away. Here’s how to stand a chance against this mountain megaboss.
Boss Location & How To Prepare

This boss is located just west of the Sanctum of Zidane. Follow the path right of the Sanctum and you’ll enter an unexplored area of Mount Thunderclap, which opens up a shortcut to the previous area, but also an area with a gravestone facing out upon a mountain vista. This is where you’ll be able to take on Ramuh.Â
Just note that during the conversation, you will need to pick the dialogue option ‘It’s Terrifying’ if you want to proceed. Provided you do that, the fight will commence, so you’ll want to set your team up like shown below before talking to the big guy:
- Rain Setup: Weapon: Flamberge, Armor: Anti Magic Gear, Accessories: Bulletproof Vest, Earrings of Health, Vision: ZidaneÂ
- Lasswell Setup: Weapon: Ashura, Armor: Phalanx, Accessories: Vitality Charm, Insulated Gloves, Vision: Warrior of LightÂ
- Fina Setup: Weapon: Composite Bow Armor: Cape of the Raiju, Accessories: Earrings, Mages Glasses, Vision: Tronn
- Lid Setup: Weapon: Mechabo Hammer Armor: Power Vest Accessories: Earrings of Health, Mastery Ring, Vision: LeahÂ
The key to this setup is using Warrior of Light as your go-to move. Because they have access to Stonera, you’ll want to be casting this as much as possible to trigger weakness. Plus, we place the Insulated Gloves on this party member as we need to protect them most, and Ramuh primarily uses lightning attacks.Â

Meanwhile you can use a mix of Steal Strength and Fill Gauge to get the most out of Rain, while using Fina and Lid as healers. Fina is somewhat useful as an attacker, but even though Lid is able to deal weakness to Ramuh, she is underlevelled by default, so don’t rely on her attacks. They can be helpful in a pinch if nobody needs healing though.
How To Beat Ramuh

Firstly, let’s discuss the turn-to-turn role of each party member within this system.
Firstly, with Rain, I would suggest doing one of three things depending on how the field of play looks. You can either use Steal Strength to deal damage with the small chance of inflicting a debuff. You can use Fill Gauge to work toward a limit break, or you can use Flame Sword if you need to deal strong damage. Rain is rather limited in this fight, especially due to Protect being useless here.Â
Lasswell is your QB1 here, and you’ll want to keep them stocked up with MP, as you’ll be using Hone Senses and then spamming Stonera for all it’s worth.Â
With Fina, you’re effectively balancing two functions. You’ll want to apply Shellga as much as possible throughout the fight to lower damage taken for Ramuh’s attacks. However, you will also want to use her as a traditional healer when the need arises.Â

Lastly, Lid is a utility party member at best, especially if you head straight to Ramuh when you first visit Mount Thunderclap. So, you can use Leah to make her a second healer, making use of their MP, while also using them as an item user to apply Ethers, potions, and Phoenix Downs if necessary. If everyone is healthy, then she’s got Stone and Mechabo Kick that can be used to deal weakness damage to Ramuh, but the damage output is pretty poor.Â
As for Ramuh, you have a few things to worry about. Most important is his Thunderspark attack, a devastating single target attack that will usually one-shot whoever takes the hit. So, it’s best to try and draw this attack to someone wearing the insulated gloves, or defending as a group if you can’t predict where the attack is going to land. Note that this will also paralyse you, so casting Light Veil with Fina can cure this.Â
Then secondly, you have Lightning, which is a group attack that deals less damage and can be tanked in f you have Mist Potions to spare or opt for the dual healers approach. But, it can also be just as good to defend as a group to cut down on item use.
In short, it’s best to provoke an attack when they use Thunderspark to someone wearing Insulated Gloves, and when they corral lightning, it’s best to defend as a group, unless you think you can stagger them instead.
Boss Rewards
For beating Ramuh, you’ll gain a new Esper for Fina, allowing you to call upon Ramuh to aid you in battle, which is great if you have to fight anything that is weak to lightning. Plus, you’ll also gain the following:
- 2,250XP
- 1,500 GilÂ
- 50 MRP (Dependent on Mastery Ring)Â
- Magicite ShardÂ
