Resident Evil Requiem has you face the game’s stalker head-on to save Emily and finally escape the facility. However, beating the Girl (aka Shadow Ghost) isn’t a straightforward affair, requiring stealth and a bit of risk.
She has terrorized you multiple times throughout Grace’s campaign, but now it’s your turn to be the pursuer. Use everything you’ve learned about her weakness to light to finally beat The Girl in RE9.
Best Items to Beat The Girl in RE9
After a failed escape from the facility, Grace and Emily hide in the Water Treatment Facility. While this is happening, Leon is doing his usual shenanigans and fighting a horde of infected with a burning church as the setpiece for his over-the-top action sequence.
Since you’re carrying an injured Grace, follow the linear path until the pair reaches the Storage Bay. Once inside, there will be a short cutscene showing that The Girl, the monster who’s been stalking Grace since the start of Care Center, has found them in the facility. To protect Emily, Grace has decided to beat The Girl once and for all.

Pick up the items on the desk and read the Roof Hatch Manual file. This gives you an idea of what to next during the boss fight.
Before heading out, prepare a few items to beat The Girl in RE9:
- The Requiem revolver and at least 3 shots to stun The Girl
- One Molotov Cocktail for safety
- Med injectors for healing
Resident Evil 9 provides you with enough Requiem shots before and during the encounter, including a molotov too. However, it’s best to bring or craft these items before heading down, as you don’t want to fumble around in the dark looking for them.
Additionally, the Eye Spy Charm helps prevent fatal damage and is, overall, a useful trinket for survivability. Grace can find this charm by defeating the Chunk that spawns near the room where you found the bottle of corrosive.
Open the Hatch on The Girl
Exit the Storage Bay and use the Roof Hatch Controls. The hatch will open partially and instruct you to restart the three power distribution units to restore power. Head down the broken ladder, which is conveniently marked with Capcom’s signature yellow tape used to instruct players where to go next.

For this route, we’re going restart the power distribution unit in the Storage Area first, then the Control Room, then finally the Chemical Treatment area.
One more thing. In my testing with one health upgrade in the classic difficulty, The Girl’s grab attack isn’t fatal with full health. She gives you a playful nibble that puts you into the Danger zone, then gives you a few interrupted seconds to run away. As long as you’re healed back to full immediately after her attack, there’s plenty of room for mistakes here.
Storage Area
The first run is the hardest part of this segment. Stay near the entrance and watch The Girl closely; she won’t give you much leeway to run, so when there’s a chance, start sneaking towards the Storage Area. If she spots you, just run towards the control panel.

Activate the high-powered light before the control panel for safety, then interact with the lever on the control panel to power up that area. The hardest part is over, and you’re well on your way to beating The Girl in RE9.
Control Room
After The Girl scurries away from the light, there’s a short breathing room from the Storage Area to the Control Room. I promise you there are no jumpscares no matter how dark and scary that room looks.

The control panel here is missing a lever. Head inside the nearby filing room to retrieve the Crank Lever. But as you’re walking towards the objective, The Girl bursts through the window and throws you away from it, blocking the path with her body.
Don’t panic, simply blast her with the gun named after the game, and this will give you enough time to repair the lever and activate the second power distribution unit.
Chemical Treatment
The walk from the Control Room to Chemical Treatment is from one end of the room to the other, not to mention that The Girl goes back to stalking during this time. However, clear enough space, then make a break for it because she’s scripted to disappear. The Girl even politely waits for you to start interaction with the panel before appearing.

While there’s a useful molotov nearby that you can always use, all it takes is one shot from the Requiem to stall for enough time to turn the lever. Once she’s gone, take your time to clean up any items you’ve missed before heading up to finally beat The Girl.
Defeating the Girl Boss in RE9
Head back to the entrance and take the elevator to the upper floor. The Girl will make one final appearance by climbing on the platform. Don’t hesitate and run towards the heavy-duty light pointing towards the Roof Hatch Controls.

Turn it for protection, then interact with the controls to open the hatch on The Girl. Now fully exposed to the stun, all you need to do is take one final shot to finally beat The Girl. Technically, you don’t need to, as she’ll die on her own, but it’s always empowering to end it with your hands.
