High on Life 2 – Kill or Spare Bronkin Bucko

High on Life 2 has a bunch of targets to assassinate, and movie star Bronkin Bucko is one of the later ones you’ll encounter during the 15 or so odd hour long campaign.

This is also the shortest mission in the game, and probably the easiest one too. Although, there are two distinctly differing outcomes for the finale depending on whether you kill or spare the movie star.

There’s not much involved here, really. Just select Bucko as your target, and head to the designated location. Once you’re near the entrance, Bronkin will, by pure coincidence happen to run into you, along with his guards.

Bronkin has no idea who you are, and will actually chat along, thinking of you as a fan. The interaction branches into two paths from here on.

    Major spoilers will follow.

Choice 1 – Killing Bronkin Bucko

Remember, there’s nothing stopping you from shooting Bronkin out in the open. If you choose to do so, you will be immediately assaulted by his personal bodyguards, a few of whom you can very easily deal with.

Just before you think you’re done, Knifey will mention to double check on the corpse. If you walk up to it, you’ll be greeted by a surprise, as Bronkin’s conjoined brother, Peter rises up to speak.

Turns out, Peter never liked his brother’s shady underdealings, and even offers to help you out in the future…

Choice 2 – Sparing Bronkin Bucko

There’s also a hidden interaction if you do choose to spare Bronkin instead. Simply talk with Bucko as usual, and after a certain point he will come to appreciate you, even after learning you are here to kill him.

Bronkin will plead innocence, and will admit to having turned over a new leaf. It turns out, Rhea Pharmaceuticals made his skin crawl, and he was completely against the legalization of humans as drugs.

Spare him to talk to his conjoined twin Peter, along with the promise of help in the future. This will also unlock the Starstruck trophy.

Kill or Spare Bucko – Our Recommendation

Sparing Bronkin is the smarter choice here. One, it unlocks a trophy. Second, it makes an eventual part of the story an easier one for you. This is how.

After a brief series of interludes wherein you’ll find yourself teleported to the courtroom, it turns out that Peter is your defense lawyer against Rhea Pharma. He’ll invite you in, and will help you out during the trial.

The biggest difference here is that you’ll have to stab Peter with Knifey from time to time (if Bronkin is dead) to ‘encourage’ him into putting forward an objection. This can make winning over the courtroom a lot more difficult when you miss these prompts. If you spared Bronkin, he will actually speak for you in court, and there won’t be any manual intervention needed.
