Surviving the nights in 99 Nights in the Forest will become much easier with a furry friend beside you. Taming animals has a lot of benefits in the game, one of which is protecting you from entities when you’re being attacked. They will follow you wherever you go and keep a close eye on you till the moment you die. If you’re looking for a pet, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s how you can tame animals in 99 Nights in the Forest easily.

To tame animals in 99 Nights in the Forest, you need Taming Flutes and food, depending on the animal. Once you’ve obtained that, find an animal on the expanded map and use the Taming Flute on an animal, which will trigger a mini-game. This mini-game is similar to the fishing mechanic in the game. You need to keep the red line inside the green bar that pops up when taming animals. The green bar will constantly move, so you need to balance the red line efficiently and fill up the bar beside it. Once you’ve done that, the mini-game will be completed.

Depending on the animal, you need to play this game multiple times and use higher-level Taming Flutes when you move on to the fiercer ones. If you have started with the Zookeeper Class, it will be easier for you to complete this mini-game since it enlarges the bar. The next step is feeding the animal. Once you’ve done that, you will successfully tame an animal and make them your pet in 99 Nights in the Forest. Here are the Taming Flute level and food requirements for each animal.

You will find Taming Flutes in the Domestication Cabin, inside a red tent with a pot in 99 Nights in the Forest, just next to your cabin. Multiple Old Taming Flutes will be located inside the pot. These can also be upgraded up to level 3: Old Taming Flutes (Level 1), Taming Flutes (Level 2) and Super Taming Flutes (Level 3) in 99 Nights in the Forest.

To upgrade Taming Flutes, head to the Upgrade Building near your camp with the Taming Flute Upgrade Station. Here, you’ll be able to upgrade your Flutes and turn more animals into pets. All you have to do to upgrade the Flutes is to tame animals and fill up the yellow bar above the map icon to get more Taming Flute XP. Once the bar is filled, they will be available for upgrade to the next level at the Taming Flute Upgrade Station.

That’s all you have to do to tame animals in 99 Nights in the Forest. For more comprehensive guides on this chilling experience to survive the nights, check out the ones on How to Get All Badges and How to Craft the Obsidiron Chest in the game.
