The Thalamus is one of the essential resources you can gather in Hades 2. Much like Soot, Adamant, Nectar, and Bronze, it helps Melinoe to become strong, but it is also required to progress through the late-game areas. If you need Thalamus in your game but don’t know how to gather them, we have all the details for the material in this guide.
Where to Get the Thalamus in Hades 2

Thalamus is a plant in Hades 2 that is grown from the seeds of Thalamus. These seeds appear in the realm of Chaos, and they unlock when you receive a gift of Thalamus from Chaos after entering one of the Chaos Gates. Once you get this gift, you will come across seeds of Thalamus in these rooms, which you can dig out by unlocking and equipping a Silver Spade. Remember, entering a Chaos Gate requires you to sacrifice a portion of your health.
Much like everything in Hades 2, the appearance of these rooms is randomized, so your chances of getting the Thalamus seeds are also randomized. The best course of action is to create a build that leverages Chaos boons and enter the Chaos Gate when you encounter one.
Once you receive the Thalamus seeds, plant them in the garden at the Crossroads. Over time, the Thalamus seeds will grow into a Thalamus flower, which can be used as a resource for crafting.
How to Use the Thalamus in Hades 2

The Thalamus is mostly used to upgrade certain items and activate Incantations. Primarily, you’d use Thalamus in Hades 2 to upgrade the XXV – Judgment arcana card at the Altar of Ashes. This card activates more than three random inactive arcana cards after you defeat a guardian, briefly making Melinoe stronger. It requires a total of 6 Thalamus to upgrade this card.
Additionally, you can activate the “Unraveling a Fateful Bond” incantation at Hecate’s Cauldron in the Crossroads. It requires two Thalamus to activate this incantation, alongside two Lotus, two Nightshade, and two Moss. This incantation is extremely important, since it lifts the curse that prevents Melinoe from exploring the Overworld. So, if you want to complete every area of the game successfully, you will eventually require the Thalamus plants.
