Idolator Sol is one of the first Timekeeper commanders you have to fight, and the second major boss at the end of the “Rush the Gate” mission in Borderlands 4. He’s pretty tough to deal with, but that means one thing: he drops a ton of Legendary loot for you to collect. You can obtain up to seven dedicated Legendary drops from this boss, and here’s what they are:

    Idolator Sol All Legendary Drops

After you’ve dealt with Idolator Sol, he has a chance to drop any seven of these Legendary loot as a reward for defeating him: 1) Goremaster; 2) Onslaught; 3) Golden God; 4) Dancer; 5) Bio-Robot; 6) Furnace; or 7) Technomancer. Here are the stats for each of these Legendaries.

    Goremaster

Goremaster is a Legendary Shotgun with a Special Weapon Effect: Chief Execution Officer, which deals +30% damage to enemies below 30% health. This is a solid Legendary Shotgun in the game, and you can obtain it with different Elemental effects, from Cryo to Incendiary.

It also features a scope attached for improved accuracy and precision. It’s best if you pair this weapon with another that will take enemies and bosses down to 30% health, then pull out the Goremaster to finish them off.

    Onslaught

The Onslaught is a Legendary Vladof Submachine Gun with a Special Weapon Effect: Keep It Coming, which offers a 30% chance for every bullet fired to deal increased damage without consuming any ammo. It’s one of the fastest SMGs you can get in Borderlands 4, and it also has a Licensed Part, which makes Critical Hits ricochet bullets to nearby enemies. It’s one of the best Legendaries you can get from Idolator Sol.

    Golden God

Another Legendary Shotgun you can get from Idolator Sol is the Golden God, which has Rage as a Special Weapon Effect. This Effect causes the Bulletforge to consume more ammo instead of breaking when overheating. It’s a Splash Damage weapon found in various Elemental types, and is a semi-automatic Shotgun that fires bullets in rapid succession. You don’t want to hold down the trigger for too long, though, as you’ll run out of ammo pretty quickly.

    Dancer

The Dancer is a Legendary Rafa-specific Exo-Soldier Class Mod that increases Melee Critical Hit Chance and Action Skill Cooldown Rate. It also has a perk, which increases Overdrive bonuses by 100%, and ends when Rafa’s Action Skill depletes completely.

    Bio-Robot

Bio-Robot is a Harlowe-specific Legendary Gravitar Class Mod that creates Cryo Hazards and Radiation Hazards whenever she Entangles an enemy. It also offers increased Hazard Damage and Sniper Rifle Damage.

    Furnace

Furnace is a Legendary Amon-specific Forgeknight Class Mod that converts damage from Fellfrost, Hoarcleave, Fulminating Fist and Stormcutter into Incendiary Damage. It offers an additional increase in Incendiary Damage as well as Submachine Gun Damage.

    Technomancer

    Borderlands 4 Techomancer.

Technomancer is a Vex-specific Legendary Siren Class Mod that offers Ordnance Damage when performing an Eldritch Blast with her. On top of that, killing an enemy, triggering a Kill Skill or using a Grenade will also reset Eldritch Blast’s Cooldown. It also offers increased Pistol and Ordnance Damage.

    How to Defeat Idolator Sol

Idolator Sol is weak to Incendiary Elemental Damage type, so make sure you carry Weapons with that Damage type. He will be located inside Fortress Indomita at the Idolator’s Noose inside The Fadefields. You’ll be able to fight him at the end of the mission “Rush the Gate”. This boss has two phases that you must watch for carefully. He’ll also become immune during certain stages, so you’d best gear up before you head to Fortress Indomita. Prepare your Incendiary arsenal, and let’s begin:

    First Phase

The first phase of this boss fight is filled with projectile attacks, with some bashes and slashes. Here are all the attacks you need to watch out for during this phase:

    1. Armor Projectile: Sol will use a piece of his armor as a projectile and throw it at you. During this moment, use your Dash to evade it easily.
    2. Energy Laser: Sol will shoot a green Energy Laser directly at you, which you need to avoid. It’s worth noting that this Laser will track your movement, so you need to be quick and on the move at all times during this attack.
    3. Locust Rod: During the first phase, Idolator Sol will throw multiple Locust Rods on the ground, with most of them having a red light, and just one of them sporting a green light. During this attack, he will become immune, and you need to use your Grapple to pick up the Locust Rod with the green light and throw it at him to deal damage. Watch out for the ones with the red light.
    4. Shield Bash: After being damaged by the Locust Rod, Sol will use his remaining armor pieces to create a giant Shield and bash it against you. As soon as he starts sprinting with the Shield towards you, Dash to the side where he’s exposed and unload your ammunition.
    5. Spinning Slash: Next, Idolator Sol will use his remaining armor pieces again to form another giant Sword, then start spinning with it. This attack has a massive range, so keep yourself as far as you can from him. As soon as he starts spinning with the Sword, that’s your cue to move out of the way and use your traversal abilities to keep a safe distance from him.

This brings us to the end of the first Phase. Much like the entire Idolator Sol boss fight, you should be using Incendiary Weapons with high DPS as he’s weak to this Elemental Damage type. During his immune stages, use the green Locust Rod with your Grapple to throw it at him and deal damage. Do not use Radiation Weapons in this boss fight.

There will be some jobbers in the area that you need to take care of. Using the green Locust Rod will expose him, destroying his armor, and reveal three flesh health bars, making him vulnerable and giving you a window to go ham on him. During this phase, aim for Idolator Sol’s head, which will deal Critical Hit Damage and keep him from absorbing the jobbers in the area, which can regenerate his armor. Once you’re done shooting at the little head, he’ll progress to the second phase.

    Second Phase

The loss of two flesh health bars will result in Idolator Sol moving on to his second phase, which has a flurry of devastating attacks that you need to watch for. These AoE attacks will cover almost the entire arena, so use your Incendiary Weapons as well as your traversal abilities to stay sharp and on the move during the boss fight. Here are the attacks you need to watch out for during this phase:

    1. Locust Gas: During the entirety of the second phase, a Locust Fog will plague the arena, decreasing visibility when moving quickly. Avoid the walls of the arena, as they will deal damage once the second phase begins. Keep an optimal distance from him, and use your Weapons and Grenades to deal damage.
    2. Locust Rain: After losing two health bars, Idolator Sol will start raining Locust from above, which will cover the entire arena. During this move, quickly search for a bright circle on the ground. Stand inside the glowing circle to avoid being damaged by the Locust Rain. The circle will keep moving throughout the entire location, so stay on your feet and follow the circle to dodge the damaging rain.
    3. Ground Pounds: Sol will then start slamming the ground, and some parts of it will begin glowing green. Look out for the glowy green parts of the floor, and stay out of range as they’ll explode with Locust Energy if you get close to them.
    4. Locust Rods: Similar to the first phase, Idolator Sol will start throwing Locust Rods at you, but this time, there will be more in number. Watch out for the red Locust Rods indicated by the lights on the ground, and wait for the green Locust Rod. Once he throws the green Locust Rod on the ground, use your Grapple again to throw it back at him and destroy his armor.
    5. Spinning Slam: Remember the Spinning Slash from Idolator Sol’s first phase? He’ll perform the same move here, but at the end, he’ll add a massive slam, which will grow spikes out of the ground, dealing devastating damage. Keep your distance from him, and shoot from afar to avoid a spiky death.

During this phase, you need to use the green Locust Rods to strip him of his armor, then start dealing damage with your Incendiary Weapons and Grenades. Look for openings, aim for the weak points, and his final health bar will begin depleting in no time. Once you’re done with the boss fight, collect his Bolt and the Legendary loot he drops, then exit the arena.

Not only does Idolator Sol drop solid Legendary Weapons, but it also drops Legendary Class Mods for every Class in Borderlands 4, which makes this tough boss fight all the more worth it. This brings us to all the Legendaries you can earn by defeating Idolator Sol, and how to defeat this Timekeeper commander. Want to check out more boss drops?
