Some items in Hollow Knight: Silksong, after attaining them randomly, won’t give you any indicators on how to use them. You can’t seem to equip them, nor is it required for any wish requests. Such is the case of the Ruined Tool, which is an item that you might pick up during your exploration. However, it turns out that it is a pretty useful item that gives a super useful ability.
How to Get the Ruined Tool in Hollow Knight Silksong
The Ruined Tool is located in Bilewater, in an area called Weavenest Murglin. This area is located in the southeastern section of the map. Advance to the bottom levels till you reach the end and go east. You could also get here via Sinner’s Road by taking the northeastern exit at the topmost level.
The area to get to the Ruined Tool will be blocked by a web. Use the Needolin skill to break it up, then head inside and go further east. You will reach an area called Weavenest Murglin, drop down the first ditch you encounter, and swim east. Once you get up on the platform, look above to find a passage going up. Climb up there and go west to find a table with the Ruined Tool.
How to Get Silkshot in Silksong
The Ruined Tool can be handed over to either the Twelfth Architect, Forge Daughter, or repaired yourself to get Silkshot. The Silkshot is a Red tool that offers offensive firepower, helping you reach enemies at a distance using ranged attacks. However, depending upon who you give it to, the type of ranged attacks dished out by the Silkshot will vary.
What Happens If I Give The Repair Tool To The Forge Daughter
Giving the Ruined Tool will turn the Silkshot into a ranged weapon that blasts through singular enemies at longer distances and offers 15 rounds. The Forge Daughter is found in the central section of Deep Docks.
Think of it as your very own shotgun, but with a better range. This is best used against single, powerful enemies or pesky ones that stay at a distance and are difficult to reach.
What Happens If I Give The Ruined Tool To The Twelfth Architect
Handing over the Ruined Tool to the Twelfth Architect turns it into a weapon that fires a volley of three shots. These shots spread out in various directions and are great for close to mid-range attacks. This weapon gives you 12 rounds. The Twelfth Architect is located at The Cauldron in Underworks.
The equivalent of an SMG, this one helps in crowd control and is useful for taking down bugs that tend to quickly swarm around you.
What Happens If I Repair The Ruined Tool Myself?
Repairing the Ruined Tool yourself turn the Silkshot attack into a sort of a railgun, firing shots frequently, and it has 8 rounds. To repair it yourself, find a bench right under the location where you pick up the Faydown Cloak ability. Beside this bench is a crafting table to fix the Ruined Tool. You will need Craftmetal for this.
Also, an important point to remember is that any of these is permanent; so once you have transformed the Repair Tool into a particular type of Silkshot, that stays. So think about what type of enemy gives you the most problems, and get the Ruined Tool repaired accordingly.
