Moss Mother can be a difficult boss fight as her lunging attacks are deadly, and she will always use them until the end of the fight. One wrong move or heal can make survival impossible. Here is a complete guide to defeating Moss Mother in Hollow Knight: Silksong.
All Moss Mother Attacks in Hollow Knight: Silksong
Moss Mother’s boss arena is located at the Ruined Chapel in Moss Grotto. She comes with three different attacks: a stinger lunge, falling rocks, and spawning enemies.
Stinger Dive Attack
She will lunge at you with her stinger, aiming at your spot. This dive can be very deadly and easily take out a Mask. It’s better to jump over her dive attack and land a few hits, aiming down. Another way to attack here is when she finishes her dive, it will give you a brief couple of seconds to land some hits. But never get greedy; if you are planning to heal, always do it after her dive attack is over. Never perform the healing before she plans to dive.
Falling Rock Attack
Here, Moss Mother will hit the ceiling, and you will see some dust lines aiming at the ground. After a few seconds, you will see rock falling along the dust lines. The best way to avoid this attack is by looking at the dust lines when the Moss Mother hits the ceiling. The projectiles will use the dust lines as a direction. If you look at the dust lines, it will give you a great indicator of the projectiles’ heading towards the ground. Just stay clear of the dust lines to avoid getting hit.
Spawn Mossy Enemies
She will hit the ceiling, but this time, you will only see one dust line instead of three. This means she is about to spawn a Mossy enemy. Just prepare to hit the enemy as quickly as possible when it spawns in the game. This attack will be initiated in the second phase of the fight. Breathe easy, it’s all going to be over soon.
Hitting Moss Mother constantly will stun her, indicated by a moving white circle over her head. Use it to your advantage to either heal up or land a few more shots. Her primary attack will always be the lunge stinger attack, so always be ready to dodge and POGO to land some hits.
