Controlling any construction machinery is a difficult task, while it may have the appearance of simplicity, the amount of controls can be a pain to deal with or handle appropriately. In Roadcraft, crane vehicles are one of the most critical construction equipment in the game; handling them is not going to be easy. Here, in this guide, we will walk you through all the details on how to use the crane vehicle in Roadcraft.

    Crane Vehicle Controls In Roadcraft

    • 1 Key: Attach Load – You can press “1” to attach the load and detach by pressing the same “1” key.
    • 4 Key: Camera Mode – Change camera modes by pressing the “4” key.
    • 5 Key: Toggle Attach Mode – You can attach all the strings to an object, and switch between them.
    • 6 Key: Fold Crane – Getting the crane to the starting position.
    • 7 Key: Toggle Anchors – Lower the anchors of the crane into the ground, perfect for working on uneven ground.

    Crane Control: Left-Click –

This section covers all the boom (crane’s arm) related functions.

    • Boom Lateral: You can move the crane’s boom (arm of the crane) to the left and right by dragging the mouse to the left and right.
    • Boom Forward: You move the crane’s boom forward or backward by dragging the mouse up and down.
    • Boom Lifting: You can also lift the crane’s boom up by pressing “R” and lower the crane by pressing “F.”
    • Rope Length: If you have a load attached to the boom of the crane, then you can increase and decrease the rope’s length by pressing Right-Click and then R and F.
    • Load Rotation: You can also rotate the load on the crane by pressing Q and E under the Left-Click options.

How To Use The Crane Vehicle In RoadCraft

There are 2 parts to using the Crane Vehicle in RoadCraft: picking up the load, and dropping the load. Let’s look at each of these in detail.

    Picking up the Load:

    • Bring your crane near the object. If the object is to the left of the vehicle, then use Boom Lateral to move the boom to the left by pressing the left mouse button and dragging to the left. If the object is too far on the left, then use Boom Forward to extend the boom a bit further to the left or bring it down.
    • Press 1 to attach the wires to the object.
    • Once the wires are hooked into the object, use Boom Lifting to move up the boom by pressing R.
    • Now, bring the boom back to the front of the vehicle by using Boom Lateral.

Note: It’s always better to use Boom Lifting to raise the crane’s boom to a higher position to handle the shipment properly. When picking up any load for delivery or random drop-off, attach the load to the crane, then raise the boom to a better height. This will make placing the object incredibly smoother.

Now we have a boom at a better height, but the object attached to it will be on the ground. It’s time to pull the wires attached to the object to bring it to the boom’s height by using the Rope Length.

    • Decrease the length of the wires by pressing Right-Click and R. This will allow the crane to pull the wires attached to the object to get closer to the tip of the boom.
    • Move the vehicle to the container or drop-off spot. Let’s assume the spot is on the right. Here, use Boom Lateral to move the crane’s boom to the right by pressing the left click and dragging the mouse to the right.
    • If the spot is too close to the crane, then use Boom Forward to decrease the extension of the boom by dragging the mouse down.
    • Now, lower the object to the spot or container by using Boom Lifting to bring the boom down to the location by pressing F under Left-Click. This will make the crane lower its boom to get closer to the drop-off spot.
    • Here, you can also use Load Rotation by pressing Q and E to rotate the object. If the container has a narrow space, by using Load Rotation, you can place the object vertically to fit into the container’s space.
    • Once the object is in place, press 1 to detach the rope to let go of the object.

And that’s it, now you can successfully pick up any load at height and drop it off perfectly in any location. There is also a high chance that the vehicle gets stuck while navigating the terrain in the game. Check our guide here on how to unstuck vehicles in RoadCraft.
