Dynasty Warriors Origins has a different take from the other titles within this series, as you get to play as a unique protagonist with amnesia. While you don’t regain all your memories initially, you can complete a side quest to get you on that path. Yuanhua comes up with a special concoction that might help you regain your memories, but for that, you need to gather 5 special herbs scattered all across the regions. You have to find these herbs as part of the Search for Memories – Shards of the Past quest, and this guide will help you uncover all the herb locations in Dynasty Warriors Origins.
How To Complete Shards Of The Past Quest In Dynasty Warriors Origins
Once you reach Chapter 3’s main story line, you will end up meeting Yuanhua in the city of Ye. Yuanhua is a young doctor who is quite fascinated by the Wanderer’s amnesia and vows to help him. The Shards of the Past side quest automatically unlocks after the interaction, and you can complete it whenever you have the time. For the quest, you must collect the following herbs in the wild.
- Billow Balm
- Moongrass
- Arborgreen
- Crimson Cress
- Thistle of the Dawn
During the start of the quest, you will only get one objective to complete, which requires you to find one herb type. Once you complete it, talk to Yuanhua to hand over the herb and get the next objective. You will also get a reward each time you give a herb.

After handing over all the herbs to Yuanhua, ending with the Thistle of the Dawn, he will ask you to wait for a while till he is done preparing your concoction. Till then, you can progress through Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 till you reach the end. Somewhere towards the end of Chapter 4, you will be asked to return to the village after collecting some cherry blossoms. There will be a cutscene where the Wanderer will learn about his past, after which you can unlock Musou Rage. This ability allows the Wanderer to use Ultimate Musou attacks while in battle, and unlocking this ability will end the side quest.
