Should Taash Embrace Rivaini Culture Or Qunari Heritage In Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Bioware is known for its decision-making, and Veilguard continues the tradition of putting layers of choices in the game and in the companion system as well. One of the companions we unlock nearly at the end of the game is Taash. One of the crucial decisions for Taash takes place after the Lair of the Dragon King quest line. Here in this guide, we explore the consequences if Taash embraces Rivaini culture or Qunari culture and what we think is the best choice for this.

Embrace The Rivaini Culture Or Qunari Heritage For Taash Guide

Companion decision also carries the same importance as many decisions in the game. Here the option you choose will heavily to the companion’s appearance and many rewards as well. The choice for Taash comes after the “Lair of the Dragon King” questline, this is the only questline on the route to the Hero of the Veilguard status for Taash.

If you decide to push Taash to Rivaini culture, you will get a single Veilguard Skill and Legendary Armor.

“You’ve convinced Taash that they should embrace being Rivaini.“

    Rivaini Flair (Veilguard Skill):

    • Taash’s critical damage will see an increase of 50%, with damage vs. High Health increased by 25%.
    • You will also get 50% more burning damage on the initial hit, and each subsequent hit will lower it by 10%.

    Rivain’s Legacy (Legendary Armor):

    • 137% Bonus Ability Damage
    • All detonation can now inflict burning on all affected enemies.
    • 150% fire damage to the enemies that are already in the burning state.

Push Taash To Embrace The Qunari Heritage

The Qunari Culture route gets Taash a different Veilguard Skill and a Legendary Armor as a reward. You will also get the blessing from Taash’s mother, as she always desired Taash to be more in the line of Qunari than the Rivaini route.

“You’ve convinced Taash that they should learn more about being Qunari.”

    Qunari Focus (Veilguard Skill)

    • Tassh’s weapon attack damage will increase by 50% with a 20% cooldown time reduction.
    • Taash’s burning duration now lasts for another 2 seconds.

    The Qun’s Honor (Legendary Armor):

    • 130% Bonus Ability Damage
    • Detonating an already weakened enemy will not spread the effect to another weakened enemy nearby.
    • The second detonation will spread to all the other weakened enemies nearby.

You will get a slightly lower bonus ability damage compared to the armor in the Rivaini culture, but the purpose of the gears plays out differently here as well. Now it’s no longer about burning the enemies, here it’s all about detonation. More weakened enemies on the battlefield will result in more subsequent denotation.

Rivaini Culture Or Qunari Heritage: Which Is The Best Choice For Taash?

The choice here depends on three things: which skill and armor works best, what kind of character are you role-playing as, and whether you are looking to romance Taash.

    • If the skill/armor is what you are looking at, we recommend choosing the Rivaini Culture: the high crit damage, plus increased damage in the first few attacks against enemies goes a big way in helping out combat.
    • Embracing the Qunari heritage appeases Taash’s mother, and she passes on the wisdom and learnings of the heritage to Taash – for roleplaying; this is not a bad option
    • However, if you are looking to romance Taash, you have to forego both of these options. Making Taash more comfortable with identity and not forcing one of these two choices works best to trigger the romance option for Taash.
