Sad news for Fable fans, Fable is now set to release in 2026 instead of this year. According to Craig Duncan on Xbox Podcast, the game is set to launch next year. He did mention the news might upset the fans but then added that it would be ‘Worth the wait‘.
While we don’t know the exact release date of Fable, the only clue we have is the year 2026. The game is being made by UK studio Playground known for their Forza Horizon series. Here is how Craig described the Fable release date in the podcast:
“We previously announced Fable as 2025. We are actually going to give Fable more time. It’s going to ship in 2026 now. While I know that’s not maybe the news people want to hear, what I want is to assure people that it’s definitely worth the wait.”
While the delay is a tough pill to swallow for the fans, Microsoft has released a brand new pre-alpha gameplay showcasing the combat and environment in the game. The game does seem to balance a good combat system with British humor to bring the charm back to the Fable series; which is known for its unique comical roleplaying.
The track record of Playground Studio is worth celebrating as the Forza games have been fantastic experiences that focused on visuals with a smoother gaming experience. We also got to hear about the Fable’s visual progress and storytelling:
“And just what they’re bringing to Fable as a franchise, just think of the visuals of what you expect of Playground games plus amazing gameplay, British humor, Playground’s version of Albion. So inspired by what’s gone before with the franchise but their take, in quite frankly the most beautifully realized version of Albion you’ve ever seen.“
“So really excited about the plans, and really excited about the future. I want the community to understand that we do these things for the best of the games and the teams, and ultimately that results in the best game for the community.”
While we didn’t get to see too much of Fable in the podcast; what we have seen creating a positive buzz around the internet. The humor and the graphic quality of the characters and environment are notable.
Another highlight of the Fable teaser is the seamless transition from a cutscene to the gameplay without any loading; carrying the same visual quality from the storytelling to the gameplay makes for a better immersion.
