Astro Bot takes the Game of the Year title at the DICE Awards 2025 beating Balatro, Black Myth, Helldivers 2, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Team Asobi behind the magic of Astro Bot also took home four other awards:
- the Outstanding Achievement in Animation. The category faced some heavy hitters such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Neva, and Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2.
- the Outstanding Technical Achievement, beating out Batman Arkham Shadow, Indiana Jones, and the Great Circle, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2, and Warhammer 40k Space Marine.
- the Family Game of the Year taking on Cat Quest II, Little Kitty, Big City, The Plucky Squire, and Super Mario Party Jamboree.
- the Outstanding Achievement in Game Design award, beating Animal Well, Balatro, Helldivers 2, and UFO 50.
DICE Awards also showed love for the Indie titles, and last year saw the release of creative Indie games pushing their respective genre forward. In this year’s DICE Awards, Balatro took three wins to its name and Animal Well received Oustanding Achievement in Game Direction.
Helldivers 2, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Astro Bot all had six nominations each in DICE Awards. Astro Bot bought home five awards, and Helldivers 2 came close to the second by winning Action Game of the Year, Original Music Composition, Audio Design, and Online Game of the Year. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle won three awards: Outstanding Achievement in Character, Outstanding Achievement in Story, and the big one – Adventure Game of the Year; cornering out Legend of Zelda & Prince of Persia.
The success of Astro Bot is a story for the ages, it shocked everyone, a platformer winning at the Game Awards 2024. Now, the game successfully swept five different awards at the DICE Awards 2025. The team deserves all the success of the sheer creativity they managed to put on display.
