While most of the mascot 3D platformers have faded away, indies and Nintendo have been keeping the train rolling over the past few years. With standout games, such as Demon Tides and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, on the way, it’s hard not to be excited about the 2026 platformer lineup.
Other games with no release dates, like Rollin’ Rascal and even the heavily rumored Spyro the Dragon 4, have yet to be slated for this year either, so the list could be even bigger.
With all the information we have currently, however, here are the most anticipated 2026 platformers. It’s time to get ready to roll, jump, double jump, and dash our way to victory.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book | Storybook Wonder
Spring 2026 | Nintendo | Switch 2

A game that hasn’t yet got an official demo, however, is Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Nintendo’s next 2D platformer based on the adorable dinosaur. In this whimsical experience, you meet a book named Mr. E, who falls down from the sky into Yoshi’s world.
The dinosaur gets curious about the unusual creatures inside the book, so he decides to step inside. Not much more information has been given by Nintendo yet, but it seems to be a visual throwback to the Nintendo 64 game Yoshi’s Story. We can’t wait to explore this beautiful game.
Yoshi will ground pound and throw objects when Yoshi and the Mysterious Book heads to Switch 2 in Spring 2026. Unfortunately, this adventure won’t be available on the original Nintendo Switch, like Mario Kart World.
