While most of the mascot 3D platformers have faded away, indies and Nintendo have been keeping the train rolling over the past few years. With standout games, such as Demon Tides and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, on the way, it’s hard not to be excited about the 2026 platformer lineup.

Other games with no release dates, like Rollin’ Rascal and even the heavily rumored Spyro the Dragon 4, have yet to be slated for this year either, so the list could be even bigger.

With all the information we have currently, however, here are the most anticipated 2026 platformers. It’s time to get ready to roll, jump, double jump, and dash our way to victory.

Speedrunners 2: King of Speed | A Speedy Competition

    2026 | Fair Play Labs | PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch

4 players competing in SpeedRunners 2
SpeedRunners 2 is an exciting 2026 platformer that has you competing with up to 8 players.

Competing with your friends in a quick race is always fun, and Speedrunners 2: King of Speed seems to be fulfilling that with up to eight players and wild power-ups.

The first game is similar to Mario Kart but in a 2D platformer form, but the sequel hopes to provide a better netcode and higher-definition graphics to make the experience even better.

The developer Fair Play Labs (Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2) has implemented detailed maps inspired by the 1960s, creating a unique environment for the superheroes you play as. There are all manner of tools you can use against your foes, such as missiles and freezing rays, so you can be first place.

There’s even a grappling hook, adding an extra layer of excitement to the fast-paced game. You’ll be able to experience that when it launches sometime in 2026.

Big Hops | A Tonguetastic Platformer

    January 12, 2026 | Luckshot Games | PC, PS5, Switch

Big Hops' protagonist frogs uses tongue for platforming segments.
Big Hops is a promising 2026 platformer.

Bringing some back to the times of Chameleon Twist, this 3D 2026 platformer has you play as a frog using its tongue for traversal. Big Hops has you exploring cute 3D platformer worlds with a cast of characters to get to know and love.

Each biome has its own story, and you’ll have to find a way to help your friends and resolve their conflict. If you’re a fan of Steven Universe or Owl House, you might be happy to know the character designs are by Steven Sugar, who worked as a background designer for those animated shows. It looks as delightful as 2024 Game of the Year winner, Astro Bot.

Fabraz is developing Demon Tides and will release early next year.

Demon Tides is an open world platformer that lets you explore what you see in the distance and glide across the sea. There are many tools under the protagonist’s arsenal.

“We’re pushing the concept of this subgenre to new limits with an incredibly deep, combinatorial move-set that can even be heavily customized!” says the Steam page for the game.

If you like finding all manner of collectibles in a game like Super Mario Odyssey, you may enjoy Demon Tides as the developer encourages you to uncover “every nook and cranny.”

The graphics are also stunning with a unique cel-shaded art style and plenty of outfits to choose from. There’s currently a demo you can try on Steam if you’re curious about Demon Tides. It will be released on February 19, 2026 for PC and Switch, likely later in the year.

    2026 | Fabraz/Atari | PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, Switch 2, PC

Bubsy running on rainbow in Bubsy 4D
The bobcat returns in likely his best game yet for 2026.

You know what’s kind of wild? Fabraz is also developing Bubsy 4D with Atari for 2026. This return to form , or perhaps just return, features the infamous bobcat rolling and jumping through a new 3D platformer.

In this game, he’ll be trying to take down the Baabots and Woolies, enemies who have taken all of the Earth’s sheep.

Like Demon Tides, the platforming is varied with all manner of ways to get around the craft-themed worlds. You’ll also get outfits from the yarn you collect in the game.

Additionally, there’s a hidden blueprint in each level that can help you get new moves and upgrades. Bubsy 4D seems like a purrfect way to get the bobcat back into gamers’ hands. It also has a demo on Steam if you want to give this title a go. This 2026 3D platformer might have potential, despite the bobcat’s mixed history.

    3

Super Meat Boy 3D | A Meaty Meal

    Early 2026 | Sluggerfly/Team Meat | PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

Duskfade | Kingdom Hearts Meets Platforming

    2026 | Weird Beluga Studio/Fireshine Games | PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC

Zirian in Duskfade holding a weapon like the keyblade.
Duskfade should excite Kingdom Hearts and Jak & Daxter fans in 2026.

One of the highlights from a past Steam Next Fest was Duskfade’s demo. This 2026 platformer features a stunning Kingdom Hearts-inspired world mixed with mechanics ripped from the Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter series.

This 3D action platformer has you take on the role of Zirian, who is trying to restore time from the evil eternal night. With a key-shaped weapon, you’re exploring a gorgeous clockpunk world as you venture into an emotional story inspired by real-life loss and take down the clockwork foes that stand in your way.

Similarly to other titles on this list, there’s a Steam demo available for those who are intrigued by this game’s fantasy world. The full version of Duskfade will release sometime in 2026.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book | Storybook Wonder

    Spring 2026 | Nintendo | Switch 2

The green dinosaur Yoshi jumping in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book
Yoshi brings a whole new book-themed adventure in 2026.

A game that hasn’t yet got an official demo, however, is Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, Nintendo’s next 2D platformer based on the adorable dinosaur. In this whimsical experience, you meet a book named Mr. E, who falls down from the sky into Yoshi’s world.

The dinosaur gets curious about the unusual creatures inside the book, so he decides to step inside. Not much more information has been given by Nintendo yet, but it seems to be a visual throwback to the Nintendo 64 game Yoshi’s Story. We can’t wait to explore this beautiful game.

Yoshi will ground pound and throw objects when Yoshi and the Mysterious Book heads to Switch 2 in Spring 2026. Unfortunately, this adventure won’t be available on the original Nintendo Switch, like Mario Kart World.
