Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds launched with quite an impressive roster of playable racers, compared to previous Sonic Racing titles. Despite this, there are still new characters being added through bonus DLCs with other franchises. So long as this Sonic Racing title continues to release new racers, these ten characters from the Sonic franchise should be next contenders for spots on the playable roster.

Cosmo
Exclusive to Sonic X

Cosmo is a character that has been exclusively tied to the Sonic X franchise, not yet appearing in any other series or video game. That’s not to say that she couldn’t, though! If there’s any game where this green plant-like alien species will fight right in, it’s a Sonic Racing title. In Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, Cosmo would be right at home both with familiar faces, as well as a few other quirky/unusual species and character picks. Plus, it would be a bit of a fun throwback towards the animated series, too.

Vanilla the Rabbit
Mother to Cream the Rabbit

Vanilla the Rabbit isn’t really much of a significant character in any way, but she does have a pretty important connection to a well-known character in the franchise – Cream! As you may have guessed, Vanilla is Cream the Rabbit’s mother, and even comes paired with her own Chao named Chocola. Honestly, this one would just be a cute addition to the game, letting Cream and Vanilla race against one another with their Chaos in tow.

Sticks the Badger
A Debut Made in Sonic Boom

Sticks the Badger is a character who first made her debut through the Sonic Boom animated series. Since then, she made a few minor appearances in video games, including Sonic Frontiers and the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series.
Sticks would be the perfect character to add to the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds roster; she’s recognizable from previous media, yet has interesting enough things about her character and design that even players who don’t know her would end up giving her a try. Plus, another girl on the roster won’t hurt – why not let her join the lineup alongside the most recent upcoming additions, Tangle and Whisper?
7
Mighty the Armadillo
It’s Been a Minute

Mighty the Armadillo is an old favorite for a lot of longtime Sonic fans, known for his appearances in Knuckles’ Chaotix, Sonic Mania Plus, and even a brief appearance in Sonic X Shadow Generations. He’s mostly seen with his best friend, Ray, at his side, which makes them the perfect duo for a double roster release, much like what is already happening with Tangle and Whisper. Cmon, Mighty absolutely deserves to have a playable role in another game, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is an option he would fit into without any worries.
6
Ray the Flying Squirrel
An Unforgotten Addition

How could we possibly include Mighty the Armadillo and not follow up with the beloved Ray the Flying Squirrel? These two are nothing short of a dynamic duo, after all. Also, Ray is just a really likable character in general, which would make him a much-appreciated addition to the CrossWorlds roster. Plus, flying is kind of his whole thing (thanks to that tail of his!), and there’s quite a lot of air racing going on in CrossWorlds – if there was a Sonic Racing game that was perfect for Ray, this one would be it.
5
Super Shadow
Yes to Super Sonic, So Why Not Super Shadow?

In Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, players can unlock Super Sonic as a racer once they defeat every non-DLC character in a race, meaning you must complete at least 23 Grand Prixs. Sure, Super Sonic might not be accessible as an Online Play racer, but that’s because his stats are maxed out. With him in the game, why not add a second fun unlockable for players? And who else better than Super Shadow?
As for how Super Shadow would work, he would naturally have maxed stats just as Super Sonic. He would also need to be unlocked in a similar fashion – perhaps by defeating every non-DLC character on Mirror track settings.
4
Bark the Polar Bear
An Underrated Pick

Bark the Polar Bear is an interesting and often underrated character within the franchise. He’s most well-known from his appearance in Sonic: The Fighters, where he was a playable character. Why should Bark be added? Well, he has a great character design, he has unique comrades in Fang’s Gang, and there aren’t exactly many Bear characters around in Sonic, are there?
That makes him interesting! Plus, he’s got that fun contrast of having immense brute strength, but actually being quite a shy guy who gets mixed up in the wrong crowd. He deserves another chance to shine.
3
Bean the Dynamite
An Explosive Choice!

First there was Bark, now there is Bean! Also a member of Fang’s Gang, Bean is a, well, explosive little guy to say the least. No, really, his whole thing is being able to throw an endless supply of bombs for defense. Of course, Bean uses this to get himself into all sorts of shenanigans, though…which is also why he’d be a great addition for a Sonic Racing game such as CrossWorlds – he’s all about that mayhem! Plus, he has a genuine friendship with Bark, which is part of the nicer dynamics of Fang’s Gang, considering how the Weasel likes to treat them.
2
Fang the Sniper
Another Touch of Mischief

Fang the Sniper, otherwise known as Nack the Weasel, is a greedy criminal and the leader of Fang’s Gang, where he works with both Bark the Polar Bear and Bean the Dynamite. Fang is a criminal through and through, always looking for gain…even at the expense of his supposed teammates.
Who’s to say the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds roster couldn’t use another troublemaker like this fella, eh? After all, he literally uses an ‘Aero Bike’ named the Marvelous Queen to get around – it’s the perfect excuse to add it as his custom build/car.
1
Surge the Tenrec
An Electrifying Personality!

Last of all, we have Surge the Tenrec. She takes out the number one place simply because she’s just a really fun character. She has a bright and eye-catching design, she’s full of personality, she has interesting origins, being related to the old ‘Ashura’ Sonic glitch, and she’s one of the many characters who tend to rival Sonic. There are just very few options that would make more sense to bring on than Surge.
She’s already made appearances in the likes of Sonic Dash, Sonic Forces, and Sonic Rumble – why not bring Surge to Sonic Racing? She’s so deserving of a spot on the CrossWorlds roster. Plus, Surge loves a challenge, doing things her way, and causing absolute chaos….there’s no denying she’d absolutely tear up the race tracks.
