It can be overwhelming to keep track of every new ability, rune, weapon, and upgrade in Conquest Dark. If you are a first-time player or have been playing the game for a while, knowing about the game’s mechanics certainly helps polish your build to perform better in the game. The game does allow you to keep track of every ability, rune, damage dealing, energy management, and all in the character sheet. In this guide, we will show you how to get started in Conquest Dark.

Everything To Know About Conquest Dark

Here we will list out all the skills and abilities details that you will face while playing the game. When you level up, you will have to select between three options; picking the proper one can drastically change the game. Without further ado, here we go.

    • Character Selection
    • Race Selection
    • Origin Selection
    • Weapon Set Selection
    • Class Mastery
    • Power Abilities
    • Armor
    • Artifacts
    • Ruin Details
    • Passive Abilities
    • Movement Abilities
    • Permanent Upgrades

Once you pick up the weapon set for your character, the next step is to survive the round by killing the enemy. If you look at the green bar at the top of the screen, it decides your level-up system. When you kill an enemy, you will see FXP popping up after every enemy you slay in combat. FXP is short for Faction Experience Points, it’s a faction point for the classes; more XP will lead to more unlocks later on. The purple bar above the green bar is your faction level-up bar.

Filling up the green bar requires picking up EXP orbs from killing enemies on the battlefield. Once the green bar is full, you will level up.

    Character Selection

    Thief Character Conquest Dark (1)

The very first thing you come across is the Character Selection screen, where you must decide what you want to play as in the game. You can be a skull-crushing Barbarian to a dual-blade-wielding Thief. Here is the list of Characters with factions:

    • Thief – The game is up close with short weapons and rapid attacks. A more agile character compared to the rest.
    • Hunter – A ranged type class with bow and arrow, people who like to keep a distance from enemies.
    • Barbarian – Primarily composed of a high damage melee build, perfect for two-handed weapon smashing.
    • Oathkeeper – The magic character, more in line with Paladin in any RPG.
    • Acolyte of Kuu – The spellcaster class can also drop a meteor on the enemies.

Character will decide what kind of skills benefit them. When playing as a Thief, you have to invest in Dodges and attack speed, nearly everything to do with movement. As opposed to when you are playing as a ruthless Barbarian, the game is all about dealing devastating critical damage on enemies and soaking in the enemy hits.

Barbarian, Oathkeeper, Hunter are considered to be easy characters to get into if you are playing the game for the first time.

    Races Options In Conquest Dark

    • Human – basically the default setting, you will not get anything good or bad, more of a neutral choice.
    • Auraborean – Deal more damage
    • Death Touched – Fewer lives, can’t be healed, but they don’t bleed.

But when you are starting the game for the first time, the only choice you will have is Human.

    Origins Selection In Conquest Dark

    Origin Choices Conquest Dark

The next step is to pick the origin. You will encounter a good number of choices here. All of them will hand you neat little bonuses for your character. The Origins will list out the Proficiency on an item and a healthy bonus Perk. Some Origins will make you proficient in short bows and survival, while others will be more focused on two-handed and heavy armor. You need to pick the Origin that matches your character’s role.

If you are playing as a ranged character, you need to choose Hunter’s Apprentice as it grants Proficiency on Short Bows and Survival, while the bonus perk focuses on Projectile Piercing. If you picked a Thief character, you can choose Cult Initiate for the Dodge Charge and Proficiency on Daggers and Shadow Arts. The choice of Origins acts as an extension of the character’s trait.

    Weapon Sets In Conquest Dark

    Weapon Set Choices Conquest Dark

Some of the weapons on the choices will be impacted by the Origin choice. Here you can always reroll to get the weapon that fits your character. Choose the weapon you want to use for the game, and make sure it takes some benefits of the Origins you have chosen for your character.

If it is the first time, pick anything long ranged, so you will have a more cautious approach to the gameplay. You will slowly pick up the enemy’s movement and patterns to be more aware of the incoming horde or damage.

    Class Mastery In Conquest Dark

    Class Mastery Conquest Dark

With the level up comes choices such as Class Mastery, Power Ability, Rune Imbuement, Movement Ability, Passive Ability, and more. These choices will further strengthen your character with new abilities and damage dealings to help you last longer at the later stages in the game. When the game prompts these choices, you will have to select one out of three or four options.

When you reach Level 2 for the first time, you will get presented with Class Mastery: You must pick the proper Class Mastery that benefits your character. For e.g., if you hold a spear as a weapon, you can reroll until you see Radiance in your Class Mastery, which will allow you to gain 7% Attack Reach. If you have a sword and a shield as your primary weapons, you need to reroll until you see Bulwark under Class Mastery, as it grants 5% Block Chance for your character. Pick the Class Mastery that reflects your character’s weapon type.

    Power Ability In Conquest Dark

    Power Abilities Conquest Dark

These are abilities that will require energy use; you can’t spam them in the game without worrying about any cost. Each ability will have its own way of dealing damage, with its Energy Cost labeled in it. You must be aware of the Energy Cost of each of the ability options presented on the screen.

Note: The type of character will influence the Power Ability selection options. The Power Ability choices you will have as an Oathkeeper will be vastly different from those of a Barbarian or a Thief.

Under each Power Ability, if you look down the box, you will see the option for Rune slots. When you are starting out, you will see the title Empty Rune Slot under each of the Power Abilities available to choose from. You will get one Rune Slot for abilities, but you can later upgrade to get more active Rune Slots.

You can see the energy bar underneath the health bar over your character. Once the energy bar is full or half full, you can activate your Power Ability. If the demand for the Power Ability is 20 or 30 Energy Cost, then you can activate the Power Ability without worrying about consuming the entirety of the energy bar. Some Power Abilities will require 60 Energy Cost, so you must wait a bit to activate. That’s why picking up Power Ability is one of the crucial decisions to make in the game, whether you want to constantly spam the power ability every 4 seconds or 10 seconds.

    Armor Drops In Conquest Dark

    Armor Selection Conquest Dark (2)

You will also get loot by defeating enemies, in the form of Armor. While it’s easy to look past each armor piece that gets dropped on the ground, they serve a critical role in your survival and damage dealing. Each Armor piece you get has its own Name, Abilities, and set bonuses. You must pay attention to the set bonuses and the abilities when looking for the proper Armor piece. If the set bonuses are more to your liking, then remember the name, look for another armor piece that shares the same name as the one you have equipped.

For example, if you received a Kharathian Greaves, you will get 10% Critical Hit Chance by just wearing 2 Sets of Kharathian Armor. You can also receive 50% Critical Hit Damage by wearing 3 sets of Kharathian Armor.

Later, you will have the ability to choose Rarity Up, which will upgrade the choices of armor, powered with Passive Abilities installed in them. A free ability move by just wearing the Armor piece, it allows for a further customization option for your character. Defeating bosses also earns you armor drops along with artifacts for your character.

Note: You can only have 5 Equipment or Armor pieces at a time. Additional armor pieces obtained will be used as an enchantment for the currently equipped gear.

    Artifacts In Conquest Dark

    Artifacts Conquest Dark

Artifacts also empower your character; each artifact will be different from the other. For example, Band of Primal Power will allow for a 15% chance to turn critical strikes into Mega Critical Strikes, or Edge of Darkness, where your primary attacks have a 10% chance to refresh all Dodge Charges. Artifacts can be used to make your character more powerful. You can only have two Artifacts activated at a time.

Rune Imbuement Explained In Conquest Dark

    Rune Conquest Dark

You will also get the option to pick Rune Imbuement, where you will add different types of runes on your weapon and abilities to make them even stronger. Here you can dictate the damage, critical hit chance, projectile amount, attack reach, and many more to empower your ability and weapon to a higher level.

Choose the rune you want to embed in your weapon and ability, and install it. This will happen multiple times in the game. Pick the rune that benefits your Character’s playstyle and apply it to your weapon and abilities. There are four types of Runes available in the game, they are:

    • Primordial: It covers the critical damage side of Runes.
    • Sun: This rune slot covers the reach of attack or other types of maneuvers to diversify your gameplay. Stuff like projectile amount, damage to burning, etc.
    • Moon: It covers Energy Cost reduction and Freezing element dealings.
    • Eldritch: These runs empower all the rune types (Sun, Moon, and Primordial)

Another layer to Rune Imbuement comes in Rune Optimization. If you are playing as a spell builder or rely on your abilities rather than your weapons, then you need to be constantly aware of your Energy Cost. So, when you are installing a Rune in your ability or weapon, you can focus on Energy Cost Reduction (found under Moon Rune section) rather than heading on to others. Rune should further amplify your damage and tactics in your gameplay.

Passive Ability & Movement Ability Explained In Conquest Dark

    Passive Ability

    Passive Abilities Conquest Dark

Once you reach character level 6, you will get the option to pick between three Passive Abilities. One of the interesting aspects of Passive Abilities is that you can have multiple variations of the same ability activated at a time, which include Passive Abilities as part of the Armor sets.

For example, let’s assume you have an armor set that has the Passive Ability “Sigil of Flames“. If you encounter the same “Sigil of Flames ” on the Passive Ability Selection option, upon level up, then you can add another Sigil of Flames to make the attacks more powerful. Passive Abilities will stack on top of others.

    Movement Ability:

    Movement Abilities Conquest Dark

Once you reach character level 9, you will have a Movement Abilities selection. All the abilities will be movement-based, such as Leap or Teleport. Like many other abilities, these ones will also have Rune slots. These abilities can be used to get out of harm’s way or deal a massive amount of damage from far away. With proper timing, you can dominate the battlefield and save your life using these movement abilities.

    Permanent Upgrades

    The Stygian Archive. Conquest Dark

You will start off at the Gates of Kharathia, killing bosses will reveal New Rituals, Soul coins, Bonuses, increase the stats of Armors, and new game features. All of the details can be seen underneath the details of the Ritual.

Upgrade Damage: You will also unlock the Altar of Power on your way. Here, you can invest in a Red Crystal to improve the damage. Altar of Power acts as a permanent bonus for your character.

Ability Upgrade: If you have too many Gold and Silver coins, then head on over to The Stygian Archive. When you are starting out, you will have most skills with one Rune Slot with no extra abilities. When you upgrade the ability, you will have opened up 3 Rune Slots with 50% Ability Damage.

Each of the abilities listed in the Stygian Archive can be leveled up to 10 times. You will notice a number next to each of your skills listed in the Stygian Archive, which depicts the level-up number for the abilities. Head over to the Other Obelisk of Sun or Primordial to upgrade your runes or other skills far more quickly.

Armor Upgrade: You can only upgrade your armor after you have made it to the Obsidian Bulwark, west of the map. The ancient, rare types of Armor pieces are hidden until you make it to The Last Stand of Zaladon, east of the map. Once you have both of them ready to go, you will be ready for the endgame section.
