When you face the optional boss Fire Dragon Mauna right after taking out Homo Fulquilo, the battle is not going to feel fair or even feasible at all. While the game does give you the option to run past the boss to continue with the main quest, that’s not what heroes do! Plus you have us to guide you on how to overcome this boss.

Battle Preparations For Fire Dragon Mauna Boss Fight: Team Composition
Seeker + Warrior + Mage = Win!
We need to get Protagonist Seeker with Strohl (Warrior) and lastly, Grius (Mage) to create a perfect combo to take the optional boss out of the game. Set Warrior at the Front and Mage & Seeker at the Back.
- Seeker (Skill: Dei): Here seeker can use Dei to heal up the party members and also will raise our defense against the dragon.
- Warrior (Skill: Diagonal Slash): The Diagonal Slash will deal a good amount of damage to the Dragon, here he can also help us with items.
- Mage(Skill: Blizz): One simple word, Blizz, since Ice is the weakness of the dragon, we just keep dishing out Blizz on every turn to carry the battle.
Battle Preparations For Fire Dragon Mauna Boss Fight: Item Purchases
Ice Chunks
We can buy items from Gallinago the Peddler merchant in Nord Mines. You will need to buy a lot of Ice Chunks. They deal 100 fixed damage against the monster, we will need to exploit the weakness of the dragon all throughout the battle, if you are running low on MP, then store as many of these Ice Chunks in your inventory.
Note: if you are running low on cash, just sell the unnecessary stuff from your inventory, or farm a bit. This is a tough fight, and all small benefits will add up to giving you the edge in battle.
Some revival medicines will come in handy if any of the squad members get knocked out in the battle. The Tail Swipe and Fireball are some moves that will not go well when your squad members get hit by them.
How To Defeat Fire Dragon Mauna In Metaphor: ReFantazio
We must exploit Fire Dragon Mauna’s only weakness, Ice to win.
Pro Tip:
Make our Mage Grius use Blizz as much as possible, More Ice damage exploitation will grant us more turns for us in the battle. Setting up a perfect offense play here for our team against the Dragon.
- Then we make use of all the Ice chunks we bought from the shop, it’s always the ice attacks that will lead us to victory in this boss fight.
- Have the warrior use Diagonal Slash, and take some fire damage for the team. You should also focus on healing, the Tail Swipe attack will be a nightmare, if the party is in low health.
- Use the Dei skill on the seeker to turn the empty space on the health bar back to the color green.
Note: If things do turn dire for party members always push the characters to the back to take less damage.
